Pain is a complex sensory and emotional experience that significantly impacts individuals' well-being. Lumbar radicular pain (LRP) is a prevalent neuropathic pain affecting 9.9% to 25% of the population annually. Accurate identification of pain patterns in LRP is essential for diagnosis and management. Artificial intelligence has potential in health care but faces challenges in reliability and accuracy. This study aimed to investigate the accuracy and consistency of LRP patterns demonstrated by ChatGPT-4o. ⋯ ChatGPT currently lacks the capacity to accurately and consistently represent LRP patterns. AI tools in health care require further refinement, validation, and regulation to ensure reliability and safety. Future research should involve multiple AI platforms and broader medical conditions to enhance generalizability.

The middle meningeal artery (MMA) is a major dural vessel that plays a significant role in developing chronic subdural hematomas (cSDH). Understanding its variable anatomy is essential for the effective management of cSDH and the prevention of complications. ⋯ The most common configuration of MMA was Adachi-type IC. The MMA most often originated from the maxillary artery. The anterior branch of the MMA was typically dominant, and the posterior branch most frequently originated from the distal segment. There was no significant impact of Adachi type on treatment results or fluoroscopy time.

Numerous studies have demonstrated a strong association between traumatic brain injury (TBI) and an increased risk of meningioma. However, this correlation remains controversial. This study utilized mendelian randomization to explore this relationship from perspective of genetic evidence. ⋯ The mendelian randomization study revealed that traumatic brain injury does not increase the risk of meningioma based on genetic evidence.

External Ventricular Drain (EVD) is a fundamental neurosurgical procedure that is commonly performed by junior neurosurgeons. Expedient, successful cannulation of the ventricles can be lifesaving. Yet, the free-hand technique of EVD insertion is associated with significant mal-positioning rates. This study aims to improve EVD placement by junior neurosurgeons with the aid of a customized 3D printed surgical guide. ⋯ For inexperienced surgeons, the 3D printed EVD guide can improve ventricular cannulation even in cases of altered ventricular anatomy. The benefit of 3D printing would also allow the guide to be widely adopted by other institutions worldwide.
