Severe vessel tortuosity may prevent a microcatheter from reaching a distal vessel. However, the Double-Wire Technique (DWT) may facilitate the procedure. The present study evaluated the feasibility and safety of guiding a 0.027-inch microcatheter into a distal vessel beyond the tortuous internal carotid siphon (ICS) using the DWT. ⋯ Although a 0.027-inch microcatheter is difficult to guide beyond a tortuous ICS to a distal ICA using only a single wire, the application of the DWT may allow the catheter to be guided without increased complications.

Post-surgical recovery following spine surgeries poses challenges for Muslim patients wishing to resume Salah (Islamic prayer), which involves physical movements like kneeling and prostration. This study aims to examine spine surgeons' perspectives on the appropriate timing and conditions for resuming Salah after spine surgery without restrictions. ⋯ Surgeons' recommendations for resuming Salah vary significantly, influenced by specialty, experience, and educational level. Standardized guidelines could improve consistency in postoperative care for Muslim patients.

Meningiomas are neoplasms primarily originating from arachnoid cells and are classified into 3 grades (1, 2, and 3) based on histological features according to the World Health Organization classification. However, this classification system is imperfect especially for grade 1 and 2 meningiomas as many grade 1 tumors recur. Meningiomas are hence a histologically diverse class of tumors exhibiting more unpredictable behavior. Therefore, more improved classification is required, possibly using novel and more dependable biomarkers. In this study, we aim to investigate the role of the H3K27me3 and Ki-67 labeling index (LI) in assessing the biological behavior of meningiomas. The study was conceived, with the primary objective of examining the expression of H3K27me3 and Ki-67 LI in grade 1/2 meningiomas with atypical features to ascertain if this potentially impacts patient prognosis. ⋯ The study highlights the importance of the H3K27me3 and Ki-67 LI in assessing the biological behavior of meningiomas. The findings provide valuable insights into the prognosis and treatment of meningiomas, emphasizing the need for further research to validate these markers and develop targeted therapeutic strategies.

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has been employed for post-surgical wound management across various disciplines, including spinal surgery. However, its efficacy in reducing wound infection rates following posterior thoracolumbar spine surgery remains uncertain. ⋯ NPWT significantly reduced infection rates in patients with multiple comorbidities, suggesting its potential benefit in managing wound infections in this subgroup. This finding is particularly relevant for an urban, minority patient population, highlighting the importance of tailored wound care strategies.
