Three-dimensional (3D) printing technology presents a promising avenue for the development of affordable neurosurgical simulation models, addressing many challenges related to the use of cadavers, animal models, and direct patient engagement. The aim of this study is to introduce and evaluate a new high-fidelity neurosurgical simulation model targeted for both burr hole and craniotomy procedures. ⋯ The findings indicate that widely accessible and economical desktop SLA 3D printers can provide an effective solution in neurosurgical training, thus promoting their integration in hospitals.

The demographics of the population with spinal cord injury (SCI) have been dynamic over time, especially as a result of aging. This study investigated the patterns of SCI admissions by age in the United States over the past decade. ⋯ The incidence of SCI increased. High cervical and incomplete injuries increased, whereas complete SCIs declined. In-hospital and 1-year mortality decreased. There was recovery in select cases of complete SCIs within 1 year.

Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a reversible cause of dementia, typically treated with shunt surgery, although outcomes vary. Artificial intelligence (AI) advancements could improve predictions of shunt response (SR) by analyzing extensive datasets. ⋯ While AI shows promise for improving iNPH management, there is a need for standardized data and extensive validation of AI models to enhance their clinical utility. Future research should aim to develop robust and generalizable AI models for more effective diagnosis and management of iNPH.

Thoracic discectomy procedures require early and adequate pain control to alleviate patient discomfort after surgery. The intraoperative placement of a nerve block after intercostal nerve violation can offer early pain management after thoracic discectomy. ⋯ Intercostal nerve blockage offers a valuable addition to postoperative pain management and may be considered as an available pain relief option for patients undergoing thoracic discectomy.

Only a few articles have been published about the lateral posterior choroidal artery (LPChA), and yet none of them contains data regarding the thalamic branches. ⋯ This is the first description of the LPChA thalamic branches to date. Their microanatomic features are important for understanding the neurologic symptoms following vessels occlusion, for precise radiologic diagnoses, and for safe neurosurgical and endovascular interventions.
