The Stealth Autoguide (Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN) is a robotic auto-targeting device for stereotactic brain biopsy, placement of stereoelectroencephalography electrodes, and laser ablation therapy. This paper evaluates its off-label application as robotic endoscope holder in transnasal and intraventricular neurosurgery. The potential to enhance stability, reduce manual adjustments, and improve surgical precision is discussed, alongside cost-effectiveness and feasibility. ⋯ This experience proves that the Stealth Autoguide can be safely and effectively used as a robotic support for endoscopic procedures. This device ensures precise positioning and manipulation of neuroendoscopes, facilitating visualization and targeting of the desired area. Further researches are needed to verify applications and limitations.

Lumbar pedicle screw placement surgery involves various assistive technologies, including fluoroscopic, stereotactic, or robotic navigation and intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM). We aimed to discern neurosurgeons' preferences for screw placement techniques and IONM utility, while also considering the influence of experience. ⋯ This national survey shows that stereotactic navigation is the predominant technique for pedicle screw placement among less experienced neurosurgeons, with seasoned neurosurgeons leaning toward fluoroscopic guidance. Robotic guidance was the least used technique with no observed difference based on experience. Neurosurgeons employing multiple techniques use IONM the most, compared with surgeons who only use stereotactic navigation and/or robotic guidance.

Proper documentation is essential for patient care. The popularity of artificial intelligence (AI) offers the potential for improvements in neurosurgical note-writing. This study aimed to assess how AI can optimize documentation in neurosurgical procedures. ⋯ AI notes were on par with surgeon notes in terms of accuracy and organization but lacked in content. Additionally, AI notes used language at an advanced reading level. These findings support the potential for ChatGPT to enhance the efficiency of neurosurgery documentation.

Severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a condition burdened by high morbidity and mortality. Prevention of secondary insults is 1 of the main goals of management and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is a cornerstone in management of TBI. The relationship between ICP and optic nerve sheath is known from the literature. Optic nerve sheath ultrasonography could represent a method added to our armamentarium for monitoring ICP. ⋯ We propose the use of ONSD ultrasound as a screening investigation for post-traumatic intracranial hypertension in the context of an emergency department, especially in contexts where there is limited availability of ICP monitors.

Hydrocephalus ranks among the most prevalent neurosurgical conditions worldwide, with a growing body of literature suggesting a potential association with inflammation. Employing bibliometric methods, this research visually analyzes the scholarly output on inflammation in hydrocephalus over the past 2 decades and provides a scientific framework for delineating research pathways and addressing key issues in this field. ⋯ This study will help researchers determine the mainstream research directions and latest hotspots of inflammation in hydrocephalus and provide a reference for revealing the molecular mechanism of hydrocephalus.
