To radiologically examine the pedicle, lamina, and vertebral artery foraminal anatomies at the C2 vertebra for pedicular and laminar screw instrumentation at the axis in a Turkish population. ⋯ Our findings suggest significant individual and sex-related differences. Vertebral artery groove anomalies are commonly observed. Before performing a posterior craniocervical instrumentation surgery, a computed tomography (CT) examination is beneficial because high-riding vertebral arteries must be kept in mind in determining the appropriate screw diameter and screw trajectory.

Temporal lobe epilepsy is the most common reason behind drug-resistant seizures and temporal lobectomy (TL) is performed after all other efforts have been taken for a Temporal lobe epilepsy. Our study aims to develop multiple machine learning (ML) models capable of predicting postoperative outcomes following TL surgery. ⋯ Our study uses ML to forecast adverse postoperative outcomes following TL. We developed accessible predictive models that enhance prognosis prediction for TL surgery. Making ML models available for this purpose represents a significant advancement in shifting toward a more patient-centric, data-driven paradigm.

This survey was conducted to explore the perceptions of undergraduate (UG) medical students regarding enrolling in a neurosurgical training program. The purpose was to understand' expectations, reasons, apprehensions, and variables influencing students' decisions to pursue a career in neurosurgery. The results shed light on students' perceptions and can help educational institutions and training programs draw in and encourage aspiring neurosurgeons. ⋯ Our study reveals that although a majority of the UG students would like to join neurosurgery residency, there are significant barriers in the form of less exposure, negative perceptions, and apprehensions toward the branch. Enhancing medical students' awareness about neurosurgery necessitates the integration of hands-on workshops, simulation-based training, didactic lectures, and neurosurgery rotations into the UG curriculum.

Rotational vertebrobasilar artery syndrome, or bow hunter syndrome, is a rare yet well-documented pathology. This study presents a surgical approach to a latent manifestation of dynamic, extension-only, bilateral codominant vertebral artery compression in the V3 segment, associated with craniocervical instability and central canal stenosis. ⋯ This study concludes by highlighting the successful multidisciplinary surgical treatment of a patient with nonunion of a C1 Jefferson fracture, leading to extension-only vertebrobasilar syndrome complicated by C1-2 pannus and craniocervical instability. The importance of considering vertebral artery dynamic stenosis in cases of positional vertigo or transient neurological symptoms following an injury is emphasized. Surgical stabilization, particularly when conservative measures prove ineffective, is recommended, with careful attention to pre- and postsurgical positioning to verify vertebral artery patency and posterior vasculature integrity.

Watertight closure of dura mater after intracranial surgery can avoid cerebrospinal fluid leakage and central nervous system infection and herniation. When primary closure is not possible, the pericranium is the preferential choice. When it is not available, a dural substitute becomes necessary. Bovine pericardium treated with polyethylene glycol and ethanol is herein tested as a dural substitute. ⋯ Bovine pericardium treated with polyethylene glycol and ethanol was comparable to pericranium as a dural substitute. More studies are encouraged to certify our findings.
