Randomized Controlled TrialA randomized-clinical trial examining a neoprene abdominal binder in gynecologic surgery patients.
Pain control and early ambulation are two important postoperative goals. Strategies that decrease morphine use while increasing ambulation have the potential to decrease postoperative complications. In this study the authors sought to determine the effect of an abdominopelvic binder on postoperative morphine use, pain, and ambulation in the first day after surgery. ⋯ The binder increased ambulations in the subset of patients at the highest risk for postoperative complications: elderly, cancer patients, and vertical incisions. Routine use of the binder may benefit particularly high-risk gynecologic surgical patients.

Case ReportsPostpartum posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) in a twin pregnancy complicated by preeclampsia-eclampsia: case report.
This is the second case in literature of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) in a twin pregnancy complicated by preeclampsia-eclampsia. A 27-year-old primigravida with dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy was admitted at 36 weeks of gestation for induction of labour due to preeclampsia. On the second day postpartum, the patient developed severe hypertension, visual symptoms, confusion, headache, and eclamptic fits. ⋯ The patient was discharged 11 days post-delivery. Diagnosis of PRES is based on the presence of clinical features of acute neurologic compromise, abnormal neuroimaging findings, and complete reversibility of findings after prompt treatment. Early recognition and proper treatment result in complete reversibility of this condition.

Effectiveness of ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block and rectus sheath block in pain control and recovery after gynecological transumbilical single-incision laparoscopic surgery.
To evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) and rectus sheath (RS) blocks in pain management and recovery after gynecological single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS). ⋯ The RS block alone was the most effective in relieving pain and accelerating general recovery after gynecological SILS.

Chronic pelvic pain in Spanish women: prevalence and associated risk factors. A cross-sectional study.
To determine the prevalence of chronic pelvic pain (CPP) symptoms and associated risk factors in Spanish women. ⋯ The prevalence of CPP symptoms in Spanish women is high and is associated with risk factors that should be addressed by multidisciplinary preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic strategies. More prevalence studies are needed to determine the true situation concerning chronic pelvic pain in Spain.
