Comparative Study
[The effect of pelvic and paraaortic lymphadenectomy on intensity of pain and intraoperative and postoperative complications].
The aim of the study was the estimation of effect of pelvic and paraaortic lymphadenectomy on intensity of pain complains, and comparison of quantity of intraoperative and postoperative complications in groups of patients subjected and not subjected the lymphadenectomy. ⋯ The inclusion of lymphadenectomy into the operation procedures did not increase of pain in the postoperative course. The percentage of intraoperative and postoperative complications in both groups was similar. The lymphadenectomy executed in specialised centres of oncological gynaecology is a safe intervention, with a low number of complications.

The purpose of our study was to analyze the rate of hypersensitivity reactions (HSRs) to paclitaxel in patients with advanced ovarian carcinoma. We also analyzed the possibility of re-administration paclitaxel with adequate treatment after hypersensitivity reactions. ⋯ We conclude that this premedication and treatment strategy provides lower hypersensitivity reactions rate and allows for continuing administration of paclitaxel in patients with advanced ovarian carcinoma.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the usefulness of skin glue--Dermabond in wound repair after laparoscopy intervention. It is a new adhesive with the physical properties that differ from other cyanoacrylate adhesives and give a significantly greater tensile strength. It was proved to have similar cosmetic results in the repair of lacerations and incisions when compared with those closed with monofilament sutures. ⋯ There was no difference in healing found in this study between the two examined groups. The only significant correlation outcome measures was in a very good cosmetic effect in the group where skin glue (p = 0.0231) was applied. The authors suggest high usefulness of Dermabond glue in good wound closure and correct healing.

Perinatal bleeding may lead to a fatal outcome in about 10% of cases. We present a case of a 29 year old woman in childbirth, in whom a preparation of recombinant activated factor VII (rFVIIa, NovoSeven, Novo Nordisk A/S, Bagsvaerd, Denmark) was used with success to control intraoperative bleeding during haemorrhagic shock after caesarean section and obstetrical hysterectomy, in the course of the patient's third abdominal cavity revision for continuing blood loss. Administration of the preparation enabled for quick intraoperative control of haemorrhage, which allowed safe and clear identification and elimination of the cause of bleeding. No significant clotting abnormalities were noted at postoperative monitoring of the coagulation system. rFVIIa seems to be an effective alternative treatment of life-threatening haemorrhages in obstetrics, allowing for quick arrest of bleeding, and thus safe control of intraoperative local hemostasis.
