To evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of abdominal x-rays in the diagnosis of intussusception when interpreted by pediatric emergency physicians. ⋯ Abdominal x-rays have a low sensitivity and specificity for diagnosing intussusception when interpreted by pediatric emergency physicians.

Delayed diagnosis in duchenne muscular dystrophy: data from the Muscular Dystrophy Surveillance, Tracking, and Research Network (MD STARnet).
To identify key factors for the delay in diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) without known family history. ⋯ There is a delay of about 2.5 years between onset of DMD symptoms and the time of definitive diagnosis, unchanged over the previous 2 decades. This delay results in lost opportunities for timely genetic counseling and initiation of corticosteroid treatment. We recommend checking creatine kinase early in the evaluation of boys with unexplained developmental delay.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffectiveness of adenotonsillectomy in PFAPA syndrome: a randomized study.
To evaluate whether adenotonsillectomy leads to complete resolution in children with PFAPA (periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, and cervical adenitis) syndrome. ⋯ Adenotonsillectomy is an effective treatment strategy for children with PFAPA syndrome.
