Randomized Controlled TrialEndotracheal Suction for Nonvigorous Neonates Born through Meconium Stained Amniotic Fluid: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To assess whether endotracheal suctioning of nonvigorous infants born through meconium stained amniotic fluid (MSAF) reduces the risk and complications of meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS). ⋯ The current practice of routine endotracheal suctioning for nonvigorous neonates born through MSAF should be further evaluated.

Randomized Controlled TrialVasopressin versus dopamine for treatment of hypotension in extremely low birth weight infants: a randomized, blinded pilot study.
To evaluate vasopressin vs dopamine as initial therapy in extremely low birth weight (ELBW) infants with hypotension during the first 24 hours of life. ⋯ Vasopressin in ELBW infants as the initial agent for early hypotension appeared safe. This pilot study supports a larger randomized controlled trial of vasopressin vs dopamine therapy in ELBW infants with hypotension.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyA randomized clinical trial of therapeutic hypothermia mode during transport for neonatal encephalopathy.
To determine if temperature regulation is improved during neonatal transport using a servo-regulated cooling device when compared with standard practice. ⋯ Cooling using a servo-regulated device provides more predictable temperature management during neonatal transport than does usual care for outborn newborns with neonatal encephalopathy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Observational StudySevere obesity and comorbid condition impact on the weight-related quality of life of the adolescent patient.
To assess links between comorbid health status, severe excess weight, and weight-related quality of life (WRQOL) in adolescents with severe obesity and undergoing weight-loss surgery (WLS) to inform clinical care. ⋯ WRQOL impairment is substantial for adolescents with severe obesity undergoing WLS, with predictors varying by sex. These patient-data highlight targets for education, support, and adjunctive care referrals before WLS. Furthermore, they provide a comprehensive empirical base for understanding heterogeneity in adolescent WRQOL outcomes after WLS, as weight and comorbidity profiles change over time.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of automated adjustment of the inspired oxygen on fluctuations of arterial and regional cerebral tissue oxygenation in preterm infants with frequent desaturations.
To assess the effect of automated adjustment of the inspired oxygen fraction (FiO2) on arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2) and cerebral tissue oxygen saturation (SctO2) in very low birth weight infants with frequent fluctuations in oxygenation. ⋯ Automated FiO2 control in preterm infants with frequent SpO2 fluctuations significantly increased the time within the SpO2 target range and reduced the incidence of prolonged hypoxemic events compared with manual FiO2 adjustment, but did not significantly affect cerebral tissue oxygenation.
