Prognostic value of pre-operative neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, monocyte count, mean platelet volume, and platelet/lymphocyte ratio in endometrial cancer.
Cancer-related inflammation is associated with poor long-term outcomes in various solid tumors. The aim of this study is to investigate the prognostic significance of pre-operative neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte count (MC), mean platelet volume (MPV), and platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in endometrial cancer. ⋯ NLR was detected to be a prognostic factor for survival. Moreover, NLR and PLR are a predictive value for lymph node involvement and also for cervical invasion in endometrial cancer.

ReviewNon invasive prenatal diagnosis of fetal aneuploidy using cell free fetal DNA.
The discovery of cell free fetal DNA in maternal plasma has stimulated a rapid development of non-invasive prenatal testing. The recent advent of massively parallel sequencing has allowed the analysis of circulating cell-free fetal DNA to be performed with unprecedented sensitivity and precision. ⋯ The present review summarizes recent advances in non invasive prenatal testing using cell free fetal DNA. The importance of genetic counseling, the current guidelines for the use of cffDNA screening in pregnancy, as well as specific maternal conditions that can affect the performance of non invasive prenatal testing are also discussed in this review.

Pain management for up to 9 weeks medical abortion - An international survey among abortion providers.
although some degree of pain is inevitable with first trimester medical abortion, little information is available regarding its management in daily practice. The aim of the work was to determine the current regimens in use for managing pain associated with medical abortion. ⋯ Most providers do provide analgesia routinely to women undergoing medical abortion up to 9 weeks gestation. There were widespread variations in analgesic regimens used. There is a clear need for standardised evidence based regimens for management of pain associated with first trimester medical abortion.

Randomized Controlled TrialIntramuscular oxytocin administration before vs. after placental delivery for the prevention of postpartum hemorrhage: A randomized controlled prospective trial.
Postpartum hemorrhage is still the most significant cause of maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide. Our aim was to evaluate the effect of timing of oxytocin administration on postpartum hemorrhage incidence in parturients with low-risk for postpartum hemorrhage. ⋯ In a level-three care hospital, timing of intramuscular oxytocin administration did not influence the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage in women with low risk of postpartum hemorrhage.

Comparative StudyIntrapartum and perinatal results associated with different degrees of staining of meconium stained amniotic fluid.
To determine the intrapartum and perinatal results associated with different degrees of staining of meconium stained amniotic fluid (MSAF). ⋯ MSAF was associated with an increase in the rate of pathological fetal heart rate patterns, intrapartum fevers, operative vaginal and cesarean section deliveries, need for neonatal resuscitation, low Apgar scores and higher fetal-neonatal mortality. Moreover, we found that the risks increase as the staining and consistency of the amniotic fluid evolves so it should alert the obstetrician and paediatrician to the potential adverse outcomes.
