Review Historical ArticleA historical perspective on pregnancy-related low back and/or pelvic girdle pain.
The growing interest in pregnancy-related low back and/or pelvic girdle pain has invoked research projects to this subject. Although it seems a modern syndrome, historical articles show that pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PPGP) was already known centuries ago. ⋯ These differences can be explained by the use of different definitions and descriptions of pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain between studies. In conclusion, it is necessary to search for an evidence-based overall definition of pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain in order to provide more knowledge about incidence rates, etiologic factors and other related subjects.

Ovarian cysts in tamoxifen-treated women with breast cancer.
The objective of this study was to detect any ovarian changes in tamoxifen-treated breast cancer patients. ⋯ : In cases with ovarian cyst formation during tamoxifen treatment of breast cancer, discontinuation of tamoxifen followed by monitoring is quite a reasonable way to proceed in most cases. Surgical intervention should be carried out when cysts are >5 cm in diameter.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialComparison of two preparations of dinoprostone for pre-induction of labour in nulliparous women with very unfavourable cervical condition: a randomised clinical trial.
The aim of this study was to compare the clinical effects of preinduction cervical ripening by using two ways of dinoprostone administration. In a prospective, open-label trial, 144 consecutive nulliparous women with a Bishop score <4 who required induction of labour at term were randomised to receive dinoprostone via either a vaginal insert (10 mg over 12 h) or a cervical gel (0.5 mg, twice in 12 h). If labour did not start by 24 h after this preinduction, patients received 2 mg vaginal dinoprostone gel followed 6 h later by oxytocin infusion. ⋯ The more challenging preinductions of labour at term are associated with increased obstetric interventions such as a high CS rate and a more frequent requirement for oxytocin inductions. In terms of success and failure, vaginal inserts releasing dinoprostone do not differ from dinoprostone given by the traditional cervical route. However, the use of vaginal inserts reduces the need for obstetric interventions and allows shorter periods in hospital.

Clinical TrialCombined use of metformin and ethinyl estradiol-cyproterone acetate in polycystic ovary syndrome.
The aim of our study was to compare the effect of metformin applied independently to the effect of metformin used in combination with oral contraceptive containing ethinyl estradiol (EE) and cyproterone acetate (CA). ⋯ The combination of metformin with intermittent application of Diane35 is an appropriate alternative for the pathogenic influence and clinical improvement of the symptoms of androgen excess in cases with PCOS.

Comparative StudyInfluence of the type of anesthesia and hydrodissection on the complication rate after tension-free vaginal tape procedure.
To evaluate the success rate of tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) performed under spinal and general anesthesia and to assess the efficacy of hydrodissection of the space of Retzius in reducing intraoperative and postoperative complications. ⋯ Efficacy and safety of the TVT procedure are not affected by the type of anesthesia (general or loco-regional). Hydrodissection of the space of Retzius during TVT placement does not reduce the risks of intraoperative complications.
