Pudendal canal syndrome as a cause of vulvodynia and its treatment by pudendal nerve decompression.
Notwithstanding many established causes of vulvodynia there still remains an idiopathic group with unknown etiology and variable results of treatment. We present 11 women with idiopathic vulvodynia in whom the etiology could be defined and who were successfully treated. Age varied from 28-53 years. ⋯ The PNTML was normalized in 9/11 women. In conclusion, pudendal nerve decompression effected relief and improvement in the sensory and motor manifestations of the pudendal nerve in 9/11 women. Two women did not improve due probably to an irreversible damage of the pudendal nerve, or to incomplete pudendal nerve decompression.

Case ReportsIntracranial subdural haematoma complicates accidental dural tap during labour.
A 19-year-old, healthy nulliparous woman developed an intracranial subdural haematoma after unintentional dural puncture in connection with epidural analgesia for labour pain. The haematoma was evacuated and the patient recovered completely. Anaesthesiologists and obstetricians should be aware of this rare but potentially dangerous complication to epidural analgesia.

Biochemical hemodynamic and hematological changes during transcervical resection of the endometrium using 1.5% glycine as the irrigating solution.
To study fluid absorption during transcervical resection of the endometrium (TCRE) and its effect on the biochemical, hemodynamic and hematological alterations so that life threatening complications of fluid overload may be prevented. ⋯ Close monitoring of fluid inflow and outflow should be done during TCRE. Above a deficit of 1000 ml, serum sodium should be measured to detect significant hyponatremia. The use of danazol for endometrial preparation also reduces the mean amount of fluid absorbed.

Confidential enquiry into maternal deaths in The Netherlands 1983-1992.
To determine the causes of maternal death in The Netherlands. ⋯ More efforts should be made to have a higher percentage than 80% available for the Confidential Enquiry as in the UK where only 1-4% of deaths are not available for similar purposes. Also, the autopsy rate of 57% is much lower than in the UK (82%). Special strategies should be developed to improve maternal health of populations at higher risk such as women of high age and parity and immigrant populations.

Ascending dose tolerance study of intramuscular carbetocin administered after normal vaginal birth.
To determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of carbetocin (a long-acting synthetic analogue of oxytocin), when administered immediately after vaginal delivery at term. ⋯ The MTD was calculated to be at 200 microg carbetocin.
