Outcomes after anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery repair: A Congenital Heart Surgeons' Society Study.
It remains unclear when sudden cardiac event risk outweighs surgical risk for patients with anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery. The Congenital Heart Surgeons' Society sought to characterize the surgical risks by determining the techniques, complications, and outcomes of repair. ⋯ Anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery surgery may relieve ischemia with low mortality; however, it can result in a variety of important morbidities, varying by the group evaluated. Strategies avoiding commissural manipulation may decrease the risk of developing aortic insufficiency. Understanding these risks should inform surgical decision-making and support the need for standardized assessment and management.

Meta AnalysisFundoplication to preserve allograft function after lung transplant: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
ARS has been adopted in select patients with lung transplant for the past 2 decades in many centers. Outcomes have been reported sporadically. No pooled analysis of retrospective series has been performed. ⋯ This meta-analysis of retrospective observational studies demonstrates that ARS might benefit patients with declining FEV1, by examining the rate of change of FEV1 during the pre- and postoperative periods.

Multicenter StudyResults of low-dose computed tomography as a regular health examination among Chinese hospital employees.
Lung cancer is traditionally more prevalent in the elderly patients, men, and smokers. However, as low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) is increasingly popular, we hypothesized the disease spectrum might change. ⋯ LDCT detected lung cancer in a significant proportion of young, female, and nonsmoking employees. The vast majority of these lung cancers were early stage, with extremely good prognosis.
