Randomized Controlled TrialSafety of adjuvant atezolizumab after pneumonectomy/bilobectomy in stage II-IIIA non-small cell lung cancer in the randomized phase III IMpower010 trial.
Adjuvant atezolizumab is a standard of care after chemotherapy in completely resected stage II-IIIA programmed death ligand-1 tumor cell 1% or greater non-small cell lung cancer based on results from the phase III IMpower010 study. We explored the safety and tolerability of adjuvant atezolizumab by surgery type in IMpower010. ⋯ These exploratory findings support use of adjuvant atezolizumab after platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with completely resected stage II-IIIA programmed death ligand-1 tumor cell 1% or more non-small cell lung cancer, regardless of surgery type.

Factors associated with morbidity, mortality, and hemodynamic failure after biventricular conversion in borderline hypoplastic left hearts.
A subset of patients with borderline hypoplastic left heart may be candidates for single to biventricular conversion, but long-term morbidity and mortality persist. Prior studies have shown conflicting results regarding the association of preoperative diastolic dysfunction and outcome, and patient selection remains challenging. ⋯ History of endocardial fibroelastosis and smaller left ventricular stroke volume/body surface area are independent factors associated with adverse outcomes among patients with borderline hypoplastic left heart undergoing biventricular conversion. Normal preoperative left ventricular end-diastolic pressure is insufficient to reassure against diastolic dysfunction after biventricular conversion.

Incidence of and risk factors for pacemaker implantation after the modified Cryo-Maze procedure for atrial fibrillation.
The Maze procedure is a well-established treatment for atrial fibrillation. However, it is sometimes associated with bradycardia requiring pacemaker implantation. We assessed the rates of in-hospital and late-onset pacemaker implantation after the modified Cryo-Maze procedure and explored the risk factors for pacemaker implantation. ⋯ Longer preoperative atrial fibrillation duration and older age are risk factors for late-onset pacemaker implantation after the modified Cryo-Maze procedure. However, the incidence of pacemaker implantation is not associated with increased morbidity or atrial fibrillation recurrence.
