Simultaneous Tricuspid Valve Repair at the Time of Mitral Valve Surgery: Determinants of Postoperative Pacemaker Implantation.
Guidelines recommend tricuspid valve (TV) repair for patients with severe tricuspid valve regurgitation (TR) undergoing surgery for degenerative mitral valve (MV) disease, but management of ≤ moderate TR is controversial. This study examines the incidence and causes of bradyarrhythmias leading to PPM implantation. ⋯ Need for permanent pacing following TV repair at the time of MV surgery is not uncommon, but there are few modifiable factors that might reduce this risk. Careful selection of patients with less-than-severe TR and surgical techniques may reduce PPM-related risks and complications.

Medium-Term Outcomes of Concomitant Aortic Valve Repair in Patients with Continuous-Flow Left Ventricular Assist Device.
Our objective was to analyze the development of aortic insufficiency in patients who received central aortic valve repair when undergoing continuous-flow left ventricular assist device implantation. ⋯ Central aortic valve repair may be an effective technique to mitigate aortic insufficiency in HeartMate II and 3. A larger cohort study with longer duration of follow up is warranted to further investigate the clinical impact.

Successful launch of robot-assisted mitral valve repair in Japan under universal health coverage.
We compared the clinical outcomes of mitral valve repair for mitral regurgitation via the robot-assisted approach and small right thoracotomy approach 3 years after the reimbursement of the robot-assisted approach in Japan. ⋯ The study found that the robot-assisted approach is just as effective as the small right thoracotomy approach. The introduction of robot-assisted mitral valve repair in Japan has been successful.
