Long-term outcomes of artificial chordal replacement with tourniquet technique in mitral valve repair: a single-center experience of 700 cases.
Artificial chordal replacement has been shown to be effective and durable, with numerous techniques reported. However, the outcomes of each technique have remained poorly defined. We report the long-term outcomes of the tourniquet technique. ⋯ The tourniquet technique is a simple and effective method to repair leaflet prolapse, with a low incidence of recurrent prolapse. The incidence of recurrent MR was high in the anterior leaflet prolapse group. Age, no annuloplasty ring or band, and residual MR were strong predictors of recurrent MR.

Simplified total arch repair with a stented graft for acute DeBakey type I dissection.
A novel technique for total arch repair was developed, and the safety and feasibility of this simplified technique were compared with those of total arch replacement. ⋯ The simplified technique of total arch repair is an easy and effective surgical strategy for acute type I dissections.

Venovenous perfusion-induced systemic hyperthermia: five-day sheep survival studies.
Since hyperthermia selectively kills lung cancer cells, we developed a venovenous perfusion-induced systemic hyperthermia system for advanced lung cancer therapy. Our objective was to test the safety and accuracy of our venovenous perfusion-induced systemic hyperthermia system in 5-day sheep survival studies, following Good Laboratory Practice standards. ⋯ Our venovenous perfusion-induced systemic hyperthermia system safely delivered the hyperthermia dose with no significant hyperthermia-related complications.

Pulmonary artery resuscitation for isolated ductal origin of a pulmonary artery.
Ductal origin of a pulmonary artery (DOPA) is commonly misdiagnosed as agenesis of a pulmonary artery (PA), which may result in inadequate treatment. The objective is to describe the results of resuscitation of unilateral DOPA. ⋯ PA resuscitation is effective at restoring flow to the affected lung resulting in improved diameter of the PA, lung growth, and resolution of symptoms. PA resuscitation should be considered in all children with DOPA, including those beyond infancy.

Isolated pulmonary artery arising from a duct: a single-center review of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
Isolated pulmonary artery of ductal origin (IPADO) is a rare disease with diverse presentations. Diagnostic and therapeutic approaches vary widely given the low incidence. Reporting additional cases may help inform medical decision making. ⋯ Early IPADO diagnosis is important in long-term outcome. However, successful interventions can be performed on older patients. Diagnosis relies on angiography but magnetic resonance imaging may play an increasingly important role. Although initial intervention depends on individual factors, the ultimate goal should be early unifocalization.
