A multicentric evaluation of pediatric lung transplantation in Italy.
Pediatric lung transplantation is performed in highly experienced centers due to the peculiar population characteristics. The literature is limited and not representative of individual countries' differences. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Italian experience. ⋯ The outcomes of pediatric lung transplantation in Italy are comparable with current literature. Particular attention should be paid to the Oto score and recipient body mass index. Conversely, adult donors and graft reductions can be safely used to expand the donor pool.

Meta AnalysisComparison of SYNTAX score strata effects of percutaneous and surgical revascularization trials: A meta-analysis.
The evidence supporting the use of the Synergy Between Percutaneous Coronary Intervention With TAXUS and Cardiac Surgery (SYNTAX) score for risk stratification is controversial. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of all the randomized controlled trials comparing percutaneous coronary intervention versus coronary artery bypass grafting that reported their outcomes stratified by SYNTAX score, focusing on between-strata comparisons. ⋯ No significant association was found between SYNTAX score and the comparative effectiveness of percutaneous coronary intervention and coronary artery bypass grafting. These findings have implications for clinical practice, future guidelines, and the design of percutaneous coronary intervention versus coronary artery bypass grafting trials.

ReviewEndovascular repair of intercostal and visceral aortic patch aneurysms following open thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair.
Reoperative open surgical repair (OSR) of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAAs) is associated with high morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study was to analyze outcomes of fenestrated-branched endovascular aneurysm repair (F-BEVAR) for the treatment of intercostal or visceral aortic patch aneurysms after OSR of TAAAs. ⋯ F-BEVAR could be considered as an alternative to reoperative OSR in patients with visceral or intercostal aortic patch aneurysms. This series showed no mortality and a low rate of major adverse events, but a significant need for reintervention.

Trends in use and three-year outcomes of hepatitis C virus-viremic donor lung transplants for hepatitis C virus-seronegative recipients.
The feasibility and 6-month outcome safety of lung transplants (LTs) from hepatitis C virus (HCV)-viremic donors for HCV-seronegative recipients (R-) were established in 2019, but longer-term safety and uptake of this practice nationally remain unknown. ⋯ HCV D+/R- and HCV D-/R- LT have similar outcomes at 3 years posttransplant. These results underscore the safety of HCV D+/R- LT and the potential benefit of expanding this practice further.
