Advances in the treatment of postoperative recurrence of non-small cell lung cancer and their impact on survival in Asian patients.
We investigated the effect of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and immunotherapy on survival after postoperative recurrence of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ Survival after postoperative recurrence of NSCLC has improved significantly since 2010. Use of immunotherapy in patients without driver mutations may have contributed to that improvement. Prognosis in patients with driver mutations remains favorable with the TKIs introduced before the study period.

Effect of procedural volume on the outcomes of congenital heart surgery in Japan.
The present study developed a new risk model for congenital heart surgery in Japan and determined the relationship between hospital procedural volume and mortality using the developed model. ⋯ The risk-adjusted mortality rate for low-volume hospitals was high for not only high-risk but also medium-risk procedures. Although the overall mortality rate for congenital heart surgeries is low in Japan, the observed volume-mortality relationship suggests potential for improvement in surgical outcomes.
