No consensus exists as to the compatibility of chemical agents used with gingival displacement methods with different impression materials. ⋯ All of the evaluated displacement agents at laboratory and intraoral temperatures induced changes in the polymerization time of PVS. Therefore, chemical displacement agents should not come into direct contact with PVS impression materials.

Prosthetic rehabilitation of phthisis bulbi defects is the only treatment option for cosmetic rehabilitation of patients with such defects. Currently, there is no treatment-based classification for prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with phthisis bulbi. Phthisical ocular defects and/or prosthetic rehabilitation were evaluated in an attempt to establish prosthetic guidelines that could be organized into a classification system. ⋯ Phthisis bulbi defects were divided into 4 classes. All the patients had rehabilitation, depending upon the class to which they were assigned. The aim of this treatment-oriented classification system was to organize and define the complex nature of the restorative decision-making process for patients with phthisis bulbi.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
A clinical comparison of cordless and conventional displacement systems regarding clinical performance and impression quality.
It is not clear whether newly introduced cordless displacement systems are better able to manage gingiva than conventional systems. ⋯ Except for the nonimpregnated cord group, all of the groups were comparable and clinically useful, with perfect or acceptable impression qualities.

Dental caries is a transmissible, complex biofilm disease that creates prolonged periods of low pH in the mouth, resulting in a net mineral loss from the teeth. Historically, the disease model for dental caries consisted of mutans streptococci and Lactobacillus species, and the dental profession focused on restoring the lesions/damage from the disease by using a surgical model. ⋯ The risk of caries, however, is usually related to just a few common factors, and these factors result in common patterns of disease. This article examines the biofilm model of dental caries, identifies the common disease patterns, and discusses their targeted therapeutic strategies to make CAMBRA more easily adaptable for the privately practicing professional.

The frequent concurrence of tinnitus and temporomandibular joint and masticatory muscle disorders (TMD) has led to the assumption that a possible relationship exists between these 2 conditions. ⋯ The results of this study and the prospective clinical trial showed a significant correlation between tinnitus and TMD. The observed treatment outcome suggests that dental functional therapy may have a positive effect on TMD-related tinnitus.
