To determine those factors associated with family physicians certified in sports medicine (SM-FPs) devoting 75% or more of their professional time to the exclusive practice of sports medicine. ⋯ Those factors found to be associated with spending 75% or more of their time practicing sports medicine by SM-FPs seem to be consistent with recent trends in the recruitment and employment of these physicians and their ability to provide added value to the health care system by virtue of their additional training and expertise.

Pharmaceutical interaction in US residencies is common. This study explores the extent and type of learner interactions in US family medicine residencies with the pharmaceutical industry and compares interactions from 2008, 2013, and 2019. ⋯ Interaction between trainees in US family medicine residencies and the pharmaceutical industry continued to decrease. A changing national legislative landscape combined with institutional policies and concerns about industry influence on prescribing habits may be important factors driving the limiting of interactions.

Several research groups from multiple institutions provide structure and methods to improve research for family medicine. Colon cancer research includes which common screening test for colon cancer most often results in completed colonoscopy. ⋯ There are practical research articles on practice management and others on common clinical problems. This issue also includes a clinical review on acute sensorineural hearing loss and human papilloma virus immunization guidelines that can cause confusion.
