Health disorders may affect negatively work productivity of individuals, leading to absence from work (absenteeism) and/or decreased functioning in the workplace (presenteeism). ⋯ This is the first study in Hungary to present population reference values with the WPAI. Productivity loss due to presenteeism deserves special attention from the employers as well as from decision makers in the labour, health and social sectors. Orv Hetil. 2020; 161(36): 1522-1533.

Major trauma is a frequent cause of death, and is the leading cause of death in the younger agegroups. Severe bleeding is often responsible for early mortality. The background of the latter is the trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC), which - often very early - develops after the onset of bleeding. ⋯ This review deals with the up-to-date, goal-directed, preventive management of traumatic bleeding and coagulopathy, with emphasis on theoretical grounds. The aim is to present the essence of this management method also to those who are not directly involved in this activity. Orv Hetil. 2020; 161(37): 1599-1605.

The electronic cigarette and vaping associated lung injury (EVALI) syndrome was first described in the United States (US) and was presumably strongly associated with cannabinoid vaping and exposure to vitamin E acetate, an oily additive used to dilute/cut cannabinoids vape liquids. As the case numbers were relatively low (epidemiologically) and the available data was inconsistent, several assumptions were made to explain the phenomenon. ⋯ The present review seeks to answer whether vitamin E acetate is indeed the cause of this complex syndrome, what potentially non-healthcare related factors might have contributed to the rapid increase and decline in EVALI cases, and last but not least the minimum standards of safe vaping (as potential for drug delivery route for cannbinoids). Benign thyroid nodules are frequent findings in imaging studies, most of the time not requiring any intervention. Treatment is usually started when nodules increase in size, the patient becomes symptomatic or clinically relevant hyperthyroidism develops. Thermoablation is an effective alternative modality. In Hungary, our team has pioneered these interventions using radiofrequency ablation for decreasing the size of the nodules. ⋯ Radiofrequency ablation represents a feasible, effective, well tolerated method for outpatient treatment of benign thyroid nodules. This method is a valuable alternative to surgical treatments in selected cases. Orv Hetil. 2020; 161(27): 1131-1136.
