Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyUse of Honey Versus Standard Care for Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injury in Critically Ill Children: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial.
To examine if the use of honey (medicated) for dressing is superior to standard care in terms of time to complete wound healing in stages 1-3 of pressure injuries in children admitted to the PICU. ⋯ The use of medicated honey dressings decreased the time to wound healing in critically ill children with pressure injuries. There were no allergic reactions or secondary bacterial infections in any of these children.

ReviewEfficacy and Safety of Parenteral High-Dose Vitamin C Therapy in Pediatric Patients: A Scoping Review.
Recently, several adult trials have investigated the potential benefit of high-dose vitamin C therapy in critically ill patients. In pediatric patients, little is known on the efficacy, safety, and risk of high-dose vitamin C therapy. We aimed to review the efficacy and potential harm associated with high-dose vitamin C treatment. ⋯ In 12 studies with 194 children treated with parenteral high-dose vitamin C, there was no evidence of clinical efficacy or inferior clinical outcomes in double-blind randomized controlled trials, and no reported harmful effects. These findings justify further investigations of this treatment in children.

Continuous Prediction of Mortality in the PICU: A Recurrent Neural Network Model in a Single-Center Dataset.
Develop, as a proof of concept, a recurrent neural network model using electronic medical records data capable of continuously assessing an individual child's risk of mortality throughout their ICU stay as a proxy measure of severity of illness. ⋯ The recurrent neural network model can process hundreds of input variables contained in a patient's electronic medical record and integrate them dynamically as measurements become available. Its high discrimination suggests the recurrent neural network's potential to provide an accurate, continuous, and real-time assessment of a child in the ICU.
