Trajectories and Risk Factors for Altered Physical and Psychosocial Health-Related Quality of Life After Pediatric Community-Acquired Septic Shock.
To evaluate the physical and psychosocial domains of health-related quality of life among children during the first year following community-acquired septic shock, and explore factors associated with poor physical and psychosocial health-related quality of life outcomes. ⋯ Physical and psychosocial health-related quality of life were reduced among children during the first year following community-acquired septic shock compared with reference norms, although many recovered to baseline. Risk factors for poor health-related quality of life included neurologic complications during the hospitalization and dependence on a medical device 1 month postadmission.

Meta AnalysisPediatric Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation: A Systematic Review.
This systematic review aims to summarize the body of available literature on pediatric extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation in order to delineate current utilization, practices, and outcomes, while highlighting gaps in current knowledge. ⋯ This review highlights gaps in our understanding of best practices for pediatric extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation. We summarize current studies available and provide a framework for the development of future studies.

Observational StudyClinical Features of Critical Coronavirus Disease 2019 in Children.
We sought to describe the presentation, course, and outcomes of hospitalized pediatric coronavirus disease 2019 patients, with detailed description of those requiring mechanical ventilation, and comparisons between critically ill and noncritical hospitalized pediatric patients. ⋯ Severe, protracted coronavirus disease 2019 is seen in pediatric patients, including those without significant comorbidities. We observed a greater proportion of hospitalized children requiring mechanical ventilation than has been reported to date. Older children, African-American or Hispanic children, and males may be at risk for severe coronavirus disease 2019 requiring hospitalization. Hypoxia, thrombocytopenia, and elevated C-reactive protein may be useful markers of critical illness. Data regarding optimal management and therapies for pediatric coronavirus disease 2019 are urgently needed.
