Ectopia cordis is a rare congenital malformation in which the heart is located partially or totally outside the thoracic cavity. The estimated prevalence of ectopia cordis is 5.5-7.9 per million births and it comprises 0.1% of congenital heart diseases. ⋯ Extracardiac anomalies associated with ectopia cordis reported in the literature include omphalocele, gastrochisis, cleft lip and palate, scollosis and central nervous system malformations. Here we report a newborn with ectopia cordis who was diagnosed prenatally.

Case ReportsCardiovascular side effects related with use of synthetic cannabinoids "bonzai" : two case reports.
Information about the effects of synthetic cannabinoids "bonzai" on the cardiovascular system is limited. In this article, two patients in whom different cardiological side effects were observed following use of synthetic cannabinoids 'bonzai' were presented. Our first patient who was a 16-year old boy presented to pediatric emergency department with severe chest pain which had started one hour before. ⋯ However, the blood pressure increased rapidly and dopamine treatment was stopped. Heart rate and blood pressure monitoring was continued. Use of synthetic cannabinoids 'bonzai' should be kept in mind in patients who present to emergency departments with chest pain and complaints related with the cardiovascular system.

Veno-venous extracorporal membrane oxygenation in a deeply hypoxemic infant with persistent air leakages: The first successful pediatric veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation case report in Turkey.
In severe respiratory failure, extracorporal membrane oxygenation support is life-saving, but it has been started to be used in pediatric intensive care units in our country very recently. Here, we present a five-month old girl who developed acute respiratory distress and air leakages following removal of a foreign body obstructing the airway. Mechanical ventilation only increased the air leaks and - despite drainage-resulted in hypoxemia, acidosis and finally cardiopulmonary arrest. ⋯ The patient was weaned off extracorporal membrane oxygenation support on the 7th day with improvement in the lung parenchyma and ceasing of the air leakages; she was discharged on the 27(th) day of her hospitalization without any neurologicalsequela. As far as we know, this patient is the first pediatric patient who was discharged with success after application of venovenous-extracorporal membrane oxygenation with a respiratory indication in a pediatric intensive care unit in our country. We think that similar patients who need extracorporal membrane oxygenation can be cured with close collaboration of specialists of cardiovascular surgery and pediatric intensive care, dedicated nurses and perfusionist support when necessary.

Complex regional pain syndrome type 1 in a pediatric patient: Case report.
Complex regional pain syndrome type 1 is one of the causes of morbidity of childhood which is also named reflex symphathetic dystrophia. The syndrome is characterized with regional pain and vasomotor, sudomotor and sensory changes in the distal parts of the extremities involved. Complex regional pain syndrome type 1 shows difference in children in terms of clinical picture and imaging methods compared to adults. ⋯ On the other hand, causes including presence of psychological factors or less contribution of imaging methods in children lead to delayed diagnosis or erroneous diagnosis. In this article, a 10 year-old male patient who was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome type 1 was described. Thus, we aimed to remind clinicians that this syndrome should also be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis of pain in children.
