Comparative Study[Automatic regulation of sinus rhythm in patients with migraine].
The clinical symptoms of migraine point to autonomic disturbances, especially to disrupted regulation of the circulatory system and autonomic balance. Searching for more accurate autonomic system studies we turned to the spectral analysis of cardiac rhythm changes, that allows to estimate the autonomic balance in sinus node. 44 patients with migraine were studied and the results were compared with those obtained in 74 healthy subjects. The reduced influence of both sympathetic and parasympathetic part of autonomic system on the sinus rhythm in migraine patients was found. The autonomic balance is shifted to the parasympathetic innervation side in patients with migraine.

The term "atypical facial pain" describes chronic pain syndrome involving the face. The syndrome consists of continuous mostly burning bouts of pain, localized in one half of the face. The authors review the literature of the topic, discuss also the historical aspects of terminology. The clinical symptoms and signs, course, and therapeutic attempts are also discussed.

Genetically determined enzyme deficiency causing failure of the lysosomal apparatus is called lysosomal disease. In normal cell the activity of lysosomal enzymes exceeds many times the requirements of the cell. In some individuals due to gene mutation the activity of an intracellular enzyme is only slightly higher than in patients with lysosomal disease but much lower than in the general population, although without evident metabolic and clinical consequences. ⋯ As yet cases have been reported of the pseudodeficiency of beta-galactocerebrosidase, beta-glucoronidase, beta-glucosidase, beta-hexosoaminidase A and arylosulfatase A. The character of the mutation is called in the case of the two last enzymes and a laboratory method is available for differentiation of pseudodeficiency from the actual lysosomal disease. It is not known whether in pseudodeficiency of an enzyme clinical manifestations could appear in older age.

[Indications for shunting in children with tumours of posterior fossa].
Between 1980-1987 in the Neurosurgery Department we treated 113 patients with cerebellar astrocytoma, 52 children with medulloblastoma and 30 patients with ependymoma. Before operation shunting was used in 10 patients and after operation in 15 patients, generally shunting was necessary in 22% patients with cerebellar astrocytoma. In cases of medulloblastoma before operation shunting was used in 6 children and after in 15 patients, generally shunting was necessary in 21 (40%) patients. In cases of ependymomas shunting was used in 6 patients before operation and 5 cases after operation, generally shunting was necessary in 11 (36%) patients.
