To explore older people's and their relatives' views on and experiences of acute health care. ⋯ These findings highlight the perspectives of older people and their relatives on the delivery of personalized and dignified care in acute settings. They lend support to previous calls for relationship-centred approaches to care and provide a useful experience-based framework for practice for those involved in care for older people.

Several behaviourally observed tools have been developed to assess pain among cognitively impaired older people with communication difficulty. However, no adequate pain observation instrument is available for this group in Taiwan. ⋯ The psychometric qualities of Chinese Doloplus-2 were supported. Further research is needed to assess the clinical value of the translated scale performed in the institutions.

Critical care nurses often face complex stressful situations, and the phenomenon of burnout syndrome has been recognized as an important and increasing problem. Recent research suggests that another phenomenon, experiential avoidance, may be associated with burnout syndrome. ⋯ This study demonstrates a relationship between experiential avoidance and burnout syndrome in critical care nurses in Spain. Being older than 30 years, having more than 10 years of experience, being single, and smoking were associated with a nurse's vulnerability to burnout syndrome.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Effects of music on anxiety and pain in children with cerebral palsy receiving acupuncture: a randomized controlled trial.
To study the effects of music on anxiety and pain in children with cerebral palsy receiving acupuncture daily in a clinical setting. ⋯ This study demonstrates that listening to music while receiving acupuncture can relieve anxiety among children with cerebral palsy; however, no effect was observed in terms of pain reduction. Further research is needed to explore the types of music which best impact an individual's treatment. Whether music results in fewer accidents and side effects of acupuncture should be investigated. Music can be considered as adjunctive therapy in clinical situations that may be anxiety-provoking for children.
