Social Status Influence on Stigma Towards Mental Illness and Substance Use Disorder in the United States.
We describe the relationship between socio-demographic membership and stigma towards any mental illness (AMI) and substance use disorder (SUD) in the United States using a national survey (N = 2512). We hypothesize that participants from higher status socio-demographic groups may be more likely to report stigmatizing attitudes than participants from lower status socio-demographic groups. ⋯ In contrast to our hypothesis, we find that participants who identified as Hispanic were more likely to report stigmatizing attitudes toward AMI than non-Hispanic whites. Younger and urban participants were more likely to report stigmatizing attitudes than their older and non-urban counterparts.

Prevalence, Psychological Responses and Associated Correlates of Depression, Anxiety and Stress in a Global Population, During the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Pandemic.
Uncertainty and isolation have been linked to mental health problems. Uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic has the potential to trigger mental health problems, which include anxiety, stress, and depression. This paper evaluates the prevalence, psychological responses, and associated correlates of depression, anxiety, and stress in a global population during the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic. ⋯ An extended number of days in quarantine was associated with increased stress, anxiety, and depression. Family presence yielded lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Lastly, lack of exercise was associated with increased stress, anxiety, and depression.

Mobile health apps are becoming increasingly popular amongst users who are turning to digital platforms to aid their mental wellbeing. As a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare staff as well as recovering patients may suffer from PTSD. We have therefore suggested to Reyes et al. ("Promoting Resilience Among College Student Veterans Through an Acceptance-and-Commitment-Therapy App: An Intervention Refinement Study", 2020) the importance of repurposing their app to help these users to improve their emotional resilience and subsequently their ability to cope with the trauma of their experience. We have also discussed the most pertinent barriers to mobile health app uptake including data privacy concerns and the role of stigma.

Medications for Opioid Use Disorder Utilization Among Oxford House Residents.
Medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and recovery homes that have traditionally served those not taking medications for their recovery are important resources for treating opioid use disorder. However, little is known whether such recovery homes are a good fit for persons utilizing MOUD, and whether residents' characteristics such as drug histories and the composition of recovery homes in terms MOUD and non-MOUD residents are related to attitudes toward MOUD. The present investigation examined characteristics of persons utilizing MOUD, and attitudes regarding MOUD utilization among residents living in recovery homes (Oxford Houses, OH) in the U. ⋯ Residents living with others who were utilizing MOUD reported more favorable attitudes than residents who were not living with such residents, but this was observed only among residents whose primary drug of choice involved heroin or opioids. There were no significant differences observed in terms of abstinence rates, involvement in 12-step groups, or previous MOUD treatments between residents utilizing or not utilizing MOUD. Findings suggest that persons utilizing MOUD benefit by recovery homes such as OHs whose residents have favorable attitudes toward MOUD, especially when living with fellow residents who utilize MOUD.
