Unawareness of thromboprophylaxis is associated with low venous thromboembolism occurrence in hospitalized patients with acute inflammatory bowel disease flare.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a set of chronic inflammatory diseases associated with significant morbidity. Generally, IBD patients have twice the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) compared to healthy controls. VTE can occur both, during hospital stay or after discharge. We aimed to assess the incidence among IBD patients who were hospitalized for disease exacerbation. ⋯ In-hospital VTE is rare among IBD patients admitted with exacerbation. Further studies are warranted to assess risk factors for in-hospital VTE development and to assess further the role of prophylactic anticoagulation among IBD patients with bloody diarrhea.

Impact of ultra-long sirolimus-eluting stents on coronary artery lesions: one-year results of real-world FLEX-LONG study.
The FLEX-LONG study assessed the safety and clinical outcomes of ultra-long (44 mm/48 mm) biodegradable polymer-coated Supraflex (Sahajanand Medical Technology Pvt. Ltd., Surat, India) sirolimus-eluting stents (SES) in real-world patients with complex, long coronary artery lesions. ⋯ The results of the FLEX-LONG study support the use of ultra-long (44 mm/48 mm) Supraflex SES, in the treatment of high-risk real-world patients. The stent appeared to be safe and effective at one-year with low clinical events in complex, long coronary artery lesions.

To investigate the bactericidal effect of tea polyphenols on multidrug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae and its antibacterial efficacy in combination with common antibiotics, and to explore its mechanism. ⋯ Tea polyphenols could be used in combination with commonly used antibiotics (imipenem, piperacillin, piperacillin/tazobactam, cefepime, cefotaxime and ceftazidime) against multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae. It has a synergistic bactericidal effect and affects the formation of bacterial outer membrane and the production of extracellular slime-like substances (slime).

The aim of this study is to investigate the expression and clinical value of miRNA-128 (miR-128) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). ⋯ The expression levels can reflect the severity of the disease to a certain extent and provide references for the early diagnosis and prognostic treatment in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
