Formerly considered a rare disorder, eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) has emerged as a leading cause of feeding problems in children and an increasingly recognized cause of dysphagia and food impaction in adults. Our understanding of EoE and its complex interplay with gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) has evolved over the past decade and culminated in the introduction of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) responsive EoE as a distinct entity which has added to this complexity. ⋯ Recent guidelines and reviews thoroughly address various aspects in EoE pathogenesis and diagnostic workup as well as management endpoints, treatment options and novel therapies. However, despite the recent extensive study and the advances in our knowledge of this disease, unmet needs and pitfalls in diagnostic workup and management of these patients are still to be clarified and will be under focus in this review.

Psychological stress levels in women with endometriosis: systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies.
Endometriosis is defined as the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, associated with chronic and inflammatory reaction. Symptoms range from dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, chronic pelvic pain, unexplained infertility to asymptomatic. The patients' quality of life is affected by anxiety, depression and stress. We aimed to verify the prevalence and levels of psychological stress among women with endometriosis. ⋯ This is the first meta-analysis exploring the association between endometriosis and psychological stress. The interdisciplinary management of the disease should expand the mental health support in this patient care, beyond pain management. Finally, the attitude of the medical team acknowledging the patients' psychological stress may positively affect their treatment.

Endometriosis is a chronic benign gynecological disease with symptoms that can severely impact quality of life and well-being. Women affected by endometriotic ovarian cyst could have associated infertility problems. Infertility affects 30% to 50% of women with endometriosis. ⋯ Fertility preservation technologies also include oocyte or embryo freezing and ovarian tissue cryopreservation. Approach to patients with endometriotic cysts still remains controversial, and a multidisciplinary approach is a key factor to achieve the best outcome with appropriate patient counselling. Such management by a multidisciplinary team is a key factor in achieving the successful outcome.

Endometriosis is a very complex condition and has a significant impact on the quality of life, psychological wellbeing and interpersonal relationships of affected women. Endometriosis symptoms progressively impair the woman's ability to carry out some daily activities and result in a perception of worsening health status and overall well-being. ⋯ In addition, endometriosis-related symptoms substantially interfere with the employment of affected women, resulting in many cases in several working days missed. In this scenario, the aim of this narrative review is to provide a general overview of the psychological and social impact of this disease, as well as the effects of different therapeutic options, on quality of life and general well-being.

Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease that generally affects young and sexually active women in different stages of their development and sexual life. Because endometriosis affects about 5-10% of women in reproductive age, it is possible to estimate that about 2-4% of those who are sexually active may suffer from sexual dysfunction caused by this disease. ⋯ For this reason, the ideal treatment should be conducted by a multidisciplinary team, with the aim to improve overall sexual functioning and not only to reduce the painful symptoms during intercourse. In light of these considerations, the aim of this narrative review was to provide a general overview about the impact of endometriosis on sexuality of women affected and the effectiveness of surgical and pharmacological treatments in improving sexual function.
