The aim of this study was to study the efficacy of cisplatin-loaded M1 macrophage secreted-exosomes (DDP-M1-Exos) in enhancing DDP antitumor effect. ⋯ The DDP-M1-Exos drug delivery system is prepared using Exos extracted via density gradient centrifugation by electroporation, and the drug-loaded Exos are able to effectively inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells and induce their apoptosis, exerting an antitumor effect.

Cardiovascular disease is of increasing concern in women. The aim was to assess the role of clinical and anthropometric measures in the development of subclinical atherosclerosis. ⋯ Atherosclerosis, as detected by abnormal CIMT, is very prevalent in middle-aged women. Waist index is the major predictor of subclinical atherosclerosis in a contemporary premenopausal female population. A WI of 1.12 exhibits relatively good sensitivity and specificity in predicting the presence of atherosclerosis in this patient population.

The aim of this study was to uncover the ability of PM
2.5 exposure to induce apoptosis in alveolar epithelial cells by stimulating excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), thus activating p38 to result in emphysema in mice. ⋯ PM2.5 exposure elevates ROS level in lung tissues, and activates p38, thus leading to apoptosis of alveolar epithelial cells. PM2.5 finally results in the development of emphysema in mice.
