Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant global public health issue with increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and cardiovascular mortality. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) A1166C and osteoprotegerin (OPG) C950T gene have received significant attention as a genetic risk factor for cardiovascular disease and CKD. ⋯ Increased ASCVD risk and mortality risk score was not found on individuals with AT1R gene SNPs. However, for OPG gene polymorphism, C950T and G1181C were associated with kidney progression and cardiovascular mortality.
