Evaluation of the reliability of diagnostic codification by the Medical Codification Department (MCD) as a method of national hospital identification of multiple injury patients and description of epidemiology and mortality among the multiple injury group studied. ⋯ Multiple injury patients need fast and adequate help because of the high mortality, especially in the first 24 hours. The diagnostic codification of the MCD was found not reliable enough to be used for a hospital identification and registration of multiple injury patients.

Comparative Study[Comparison of emergency ambulance assistance in The Netherlands and the U.S.; are conditions optimal in The Netherlands?].
To inventory the difference in ambulance assistance in the Netherlands and the USA and to formulate recommendations to improve this assistance in the Netherlands. ⋯ The training requirements for ambulance attendants and dispatchers should be tightened up and dispatchers should be issued with protocols. In addition, the communication between the switchboard, the ambulance and the hospital and the means of immobilization used should be improved. Use of the scoop stretcher is considered inadvisable.

[Is the use of helicopters with a trauma team in severely injured accident victims in The Netherlands cost effective? A modelling approach].
The assessment of the cost-effectiveness of helicopter medical crews for patients with major trauma in the Dutch situation. ⋯ Relying on the information that is available at this moment, no definite conclusions can be drawn on the cost-effectiveness of this facility, because too many essential data are missing. Empirical research is necessary.
