Non-necrotizing acute dermo-hypodermal infections are infectious processes that include erysipela and infectious cellulitis, and are mainly caused by group A β-haemolytic streptococcus. The lower limbs are affected in more than 80% of cases and the risk factors are disruption of cutaneous barrier, lymphoedema and obesity. Diagnosis is clinical and in a typical setting we observe an acute inflammatory plaque with fever, lymphangitis, adenopathy and leucocytosis. ⋯ In case of atypical presentations, erysipela must be distinguished from necrotizing fasciitis and acute vein thrombosis. Flucloxacillin and cefradine remain the first line of treatment. Recurrence is the main complication, so correct treatment of the risk factors is crucial.

In 2015, the EU(7)-PIM List was published, which identifies potentially inappropriate medicines in older patients and resulted from a consensus of experts from seven European countries. Portugal was not part of this group, so it was not originally adapted to the Portuguese reality. With this work, we intend to elaborate a list of potentially inappropriate medicines adapted to the reality of medicines marketed in Portugal, through the operationalization of the EU(7)-PIM List for the national reality and to evaluate the adequacy of its use for clinical practice. ⋯ The list drawn up is a useful tool for the identification of potentially inappropriate medicines, easy to use in clinical practice and research.

Neurodevelopmental disorders are, in modern societies, the most common chronic pediatric conditions. Many remain in adulthood. Organizing the national health care network to respond efficiently and effectively requires grounded knowledge of care needs. The Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics Society of the Portuguese Society of Pediatrics in order to know the current hospital care reality of Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics, carried out a national survey in 2007, repeating it ten years later. Material e Methods: In the 2016-2017 biennium, a survey of 45 hospital units was conducted on the patient volume of Neurodevelopmental clinics, the allocation of human resources, and the needs for professional reinforcement. ⋯ It is noteworthy that the overall improvement of the national response in the area of Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics is remarkable. However, the requested reinforcement of human resources from a multidisciplinary perspective should not be neglected in view of the continuous improvement in care delivery in an area of great chronicity and complexity.

Syndromic surveillance allows early detection of changes in the population's morbidity pattern. The aim of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of indicators related to access to healthcare services, in COVID-19 surveillance. ⋯ The indicators under analysis could be used regularly, with special attention to viral pneumonias, to detect outbreaks of COVID-19. Information on pneumonia of unknown etiology may be considered in the surveillance of COVID-19.
