Although the incidence of leukemia's is not high, many of these cancers lead to death over a short period. This is a cross-sectional study on leukemia deaths in southern Iran. ⋯ The mortality and YLL due to leukemia had a stable trend. However, this trend has been decreasing or increasing in some age groups. Determining and controlling essential risk factors, especially the environmental factors of leukemia, may reduce its burden in the Fars province.

Vitamin D deficiency is a prevalent problem in worldwide healthcare related to several system disorders. Food fortification as a solution is associated with several challenges including insufficient coverage of the entire population, required degree of fortification, the vehicles used for fortification and potential toxicity. This study aimed to determine the optimal amount of vitamin D for fortification without surpassing the upper intake level (UL) of intake at the 95th percentile of the Iranian population and compare two methods of food fortification. ⋯ One interesting finding was that supplement consumption did not greatly affect the impact of fortification. This observation may support the hypothesis to determine the amount of fortification, and we can ignore the study population's supplement consumption.

Anti-N-methyl D-aspartate Receptor Encephalitis Following ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Vaccination: A Case Report.
As of December 2020, millions of people have been immunized using vaccines against SARS-CoV-2. A wide range of neurological adverse effects of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines have been reported so far. ⋯ The patient responded to intravenous dexamethasone very well and experienced no other complications in 6 months of follow-up. Scientific reports of neurological side effects such as anti-NMDAR encephalitis after vaccination are necessary to optimize the safety and effectiveness of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.

Obesity is a serious chronic disease that adversely affects health and quality of life. However, a significant percentage of people do not participate in or adhere to weight loss programs. Therefore, a multidisciplinary approach is needed to identify critical barriers to effective obesity management and to examine health practitioners' attitudes and behaviors towards effective obesity treatment. ⋯ Although the majority of health care professionals consider obesity as a serious disease which has a large impact on overall health, counseling for lifestyle modification, pharmacologic or surgical intervention occur in almost half of the visits. Increasing the length of physician visits as well as tailoring appropriate training programs could improve health care for obesity.

An intramural gastric abscess is a rare condition often mistaken for other medical diseases such as gastric cancer and neoplasms. We present a case of a patient initially believed to have pancreatic cancer based on his computed tomography scan. The clinical diagnosis of locally advanced gastric cancer was made on subsequent magnetic resonance cholangiography and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). ⋯ The final diagnosis was gastric wall abscess (GWA) that infiltrated and adhered to the adjacent tissues. This case reminds that physicians should include GWA as a differential diagnosis in the suspicion of gastric cancer. Although GWA is rare, it is often forgotten when focusing on the possibility of fatal cancer.
