In this study we aimed to investigate whether there is an effect of N2O on postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) via intraabdominal pressure (IAP). ⋯ In conclusion, we think that N2O usage during the general anesthesia in patients without intraabdominal problems may increase IAP level for some degree whereas it does not increase PONV. In addition, N2O usage does not change ETCO2 values (Tab. 3, Fig. 3, Ref. 32).

Comparison of the therapeutic effects of tri-iodothyronine and methylprednisolone during early sepsis in laboratory animals.
Despite major advances, the treatment of sepsis is still a challenging problem for surgeons. This study was aimed to compare the therapeutic effects of methylprednisolone and tri-iodothyronine replacement therapy during an early sepsis. ⋯ Compared to the MP replacement therapy, therapeutic effects of T3 replacement therapy have been found significantly more promising (Tab. 1, Fig. 10, Ref. 49).

We investigated whether tacrolimus (FK506) can inhibit neointimal formation in arterialised vein grafts in rats. ⋯ Treatment with tacrolimus (FK506) showed a dose dependant inhibition of neointimal hyperplasia in arterialised vein grafts in rats (Tab. 1, Fig. 3, Ref. 22).

This study was conducted to determine the association of insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism of the ACE gene in hypertensive and T2DM subjects in Egyptian population. ⋯ The DD genotype and the D allele are associated with hypertension and type 2 diabetes in Egyptian patients (Tab. 5, Fig. 1, Ref. 32).

In this study, we investigated the protective effects of frequently used intravenous anesthetics (ketamine, propofol, thiopental, and fentanyl) in oxidative stress in a rat liver model of obstructive jaundice. ⋯ Ketamine and propofol were observed to cause the least amount of oxidative stress in this rat model of induced oxidative stress generated by ligation of the common bile duct. This experiment is the first study on this subject in the literature (Tab. 3, Ref. 65).
