Our aim is to identify important lncRNAs and mRNAs which may play a key role in contributing to pathogenesis of gastric cancer. ⋯ The expression of TM4SF5, CTD-2354A18.1 and miR-4697-3P is in balance at physiological conditions, however, the balance is disrupted by some situations, which may contribute to gastric cancer. GO analysis and Pathway analysis also showed TM4SF5 played an important role in proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Therefore, TM4SF5-miR-4697-3P- CTD-2354A18.1 may play a key role in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer (Tab. 2, Fig. 4, Ref. 30).

Malignant mesothelioma of tunica vaginalis testis is an extremely rare tumour. It is often caused by exposition to asbestos, however, more often its occurrence is sporadic. The diagnosis is usually set secondarily during hydrocele surgery. This type of tumour should be considered in cases with with atypical hydrocele, especially haematocele or atypical shape of seminal covering. ⋯ A case of an asbestos-exposed patient with described disease and long-term hydrocele is presented. The number of patients is so small that the guidelines are limited due to low statistical power (Fig. 2, Ref. 14).

To identify factors involved in reno-pulmonary interactions during mechanical ventilation. ⋯ The study showed a causal relationship between renal dysfunction and positive pressure mechanical ventilation with respect to tidal volume and time (Tab. 4, Fig. 2, Ref. 17).

This study evaluates the effects produced by H2S donor; sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS), in a renal ischemia/reperfusion (IR) rat model and assesses the possible mediating role of nitric oxide (NO) in these H2S' effects. ⋯ NaHS protects against the effects of renal IR injury by acting primarily through a decrease in both pro-inflammatory cytokines and iNOS expression as well as through up-regulation of the eNOS pathway. Furthermore, H₂S has a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-apoptotic effects (Tab. 2, Fig. 6, Ref. 45).

Acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) is an abdominal-vascular emergency which is rare and has high mortality rates (60-80 %) due to late diagnosis (1-3). Although it is known that extravascular reasons like intestinal intussusception, volvulus, strangulated hernias and obstructions can cause intestinal gangrene, these are rarely the cause of AMI (1). ⋯ As a result, in rats with SMA occlusion serum D-dimer levels were not increased significantly when compared either in the group or with the basal values of the control group and values in operative control group. Therefore, it is concluded that D-dimer is not a useful marker for early diagnosis of AMI. On the other hand, it is revealed that blood L-lactate levels began to increase significantly following 4th hour of mesenteric ischemia and it is shown that this increase continued at the 6th hour. In addition, considering the utmost importance of the early diagnosis in patients with the clinical suspicion of AMI, L-lactate seems to be a suitable marker to use in emergency departments because it is achieved with a portable device that gives fast and accurate results. Nevertheless, our results are need to be supported by clinical studies with larger patient series (Tab. 2, Fig. 11, Ref. 39).
