In Mexico, there are no appropriate statistical data on aortic disease, which can be treated with medical management or open or endovascular surgical approach. ⋯ An elevated rate of complications is reported for aortic pathologies due to underdiagnosis, which results in management being more complicated and prognosis unfavorable. The creation of a national aortic disease registry is crucial to standardization in the approach and optimization of results.

Multi-frequency bio-impedance analysis (BIA) accurately evaluates body composition. ⋯ Phase angle is inversely and independently associated with malnutrition risk in patients with ESRD, which suggests that BIA-assessed body composition might be better than BMI in the clinical assessment of patients with ESRD.

Atherosclerotic carotid artery disease (CAD) is a major risk factor for cerebrovascular disease. ⋯ In asymptomatic subjects without a history of ischemic stroke, age and hypertension were the most important risk factors for macrovascular disease. Diabetes mellitus was associated with microvascular disease. Obesity alone was not a major determinant of CAD or WMD.

An integral diagnosis of population contemplates within its components the population demographic analysis that is indispensable in the formulation of public policies. Population policy has a clearly transversal nature, since all actions in the economic, social, political, cultural, geographical, and obviously, demographic fields, have direct or indirect repercussions on it. ⋯ Our data provide evidence that suggests modifying and generating public policies according to OAP.
