More than the twenty percent of ovarian cancers are hereditary, and most have BRCA mutations. The 30% of Mexican patients with the BRCA1 mutation have the BRCA1 gene exon 9-12del deletion founder mutation (BRCA1 ex9-12del). BRCA-mutated tumors are more sensitive to PARP inhibitors such as olaparib. ⋯ Olaparib offers greater PFS benefit as maintenance therapy after a first and second relapse. Patients with founder mutation have had sustained PFS.

Conflicts of interest are situations in which judgment and integrity of medical decisions or actions are influenced by a secondary interest, often of an economic nature. The Committee of Ethics and Transparency in the Physician-Industry Relationship of the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico recognizes that these conflicts occur in health professionals' daily life, but also in public and private institutions that provide health services, as well as in the academy and in research activities. Therefore, it is necessary to identify conflicting situations and always act in accordance with the patient's interest.

TAC y PET/TC con 18-FDG para evaluar la respuesta al tratamiento en linfoma de Hodgkin y no Hodgkin.
The assessment of lymphoma response to treatment is based on imaging studies. ⋯ The value of lymphoma treatment response on CT does not agree with that obtained by 18-FDG PET/CT.

The superoxide dismutase type 1 (SOD1) gene is the first responsible gene mapped in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 1 (ALS1), and it codes for the enzyme SOD1, the function of which is to protect against damage mediated by free radicals deriving from oxygen. Its pathophysiological mechanism in ALS1 is related to ischemia. Several molecular studies of the SOD1 gene show that point mutations are the most frequent. ⋯ On the other hand, familial and sporadic cases have a different etiology, which is explained by molecular heterogeneity and multiple pathogenic mechanisms that lead to ALS1; oxidative stress and ischemia are not the only cause. In Mexico, ALS molecular genetics studies are scarce. Clinical studies show an increase in cytokines such as adipsin in cerebrospinal fluid.

Desde el ISET al InDRE. I. Instituto de Salubridad y Enfermedades Tropicales: génesis y primeros años, 1934-1940.
Lázaro Cárdenas government vision, and the process to create the Sanitary and Tropical Diseases Institute, which is considered strategic for public health, were consistent with the actions that were carried out: the Department of Public Sanitary asked the most relevant scientist of those days, Eliseo Ramírez, to design and follow-up the Institute's project. A commission of the Higher Education and Scientific Research Council reviewed and approved the project and conferred this institution its nature of research center with social and humanistic vocation since its foundation. ⋯ It is the most significant public health institution of the country, with a new phase as Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference. Without it, Mexican modern public health cannot be understood.
