CONACYT's Mexican Science and Technology Journals Classification System (SCRMCYT) includes the area of medicine and health sciences (M&HS). ⋯ Approximately half the 2018 SCRMCYT M&HS journals lack publications indexed in 2018; this suggests that national and international relevance of these journals can be improved.

Refusal of physicians to prescribe insulin to their patients has been scarcely evaluated; the delay in treatment intensification hinders adequate and quality care. ⋯ Clinical inertia was not the result of a complex medical condition or patient comorbidities, but of doctor's perception and confidence in his/her clinical and communication skills.

Preeclampsia occurs in 8% of pregnancies and generates 25% of perinatal deaths. Although its etiology is multifactorial, some metabolic alterations are associated with the endothelial dysfunction present in the disease, and its study could identify early markers of damage. ⋯ We found an association between hypertriglyceridemia and the presence of diabetes mellitus II with the development of hypertensive disease induced by pregnancy.

Breast cancer subtype classification according to hormone receptors (HR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) using immunohistochemistry is the standard practice for therapeutic decision making. ⋯ HR positive subtypes by immunohistochemistry where most frequent and showed a greater overall survival compared to the triple negative subtype.

Doctors require flexibility for prescription. However, some limits are laid down both by current knowledge and by restrictions imposed by access and rules and regulations. The Committee for Ethics and Transparency in the Physician-Industry Relationship (CETREMI) of the National Academy of Medicine proposes several suggestions to help patients, which include the selection of the best alternatives for each case, formalization of prescription standards variations (doses, drug indications, etc.) written down in the medical records, and avoidance of fashions, untested novelties, argumentations solely based on advertising or commercial promotion and conflicts of interest.
