Cardiovascular risk factors in Mexico and the United States: a comparative cross-sectional study between the HABLE and MHAS participants.
In the United States, information on the Mexican-American population is available through the Health and Aging Brain among Latino Elders (HABLE) study; in Mexico, the results of the Mexican Health and Aging Study (MHAS) are available. ⋯ The prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors was higher in Mexican American HABLE participants, than in Mexican MHAS participants.

Validity and consistency of an outpatient department user satisfaction rapid scale.
User satisfaction is key to define and assess the quality of care; however, there is no patient satisfaction rapid scale in Mexico. Our objective was to determine the validity and consistency of an outpatient department user satisfaction rapid scale (ERSaPaCE). ⋯ ERSaPaCE was a valid and consistent instrument for the assessment of outpatient department user satisfaction.

Health promotion and disease prevention are essential components of prenatal care. Maternal nutrient insufficiencies could negatively impact the morbidity and mortality of the mother-fetus pair as well as the health of the next generations. Although a healthy diet is usually sufficient to meet the increased nutrient needs, supplementation is part of routine care to ensure a healthy pregnancy and optimal fetal development. ⋯ However, there are vulnerable groups of women who could benefit from complementary individualized supplementation schemes. Recently, relevant information has been published related to the supplementation of single and multiple micronutrients with significant effects on maternal and fetal health, which could have implications in the clinical practice of health professionals. This review presents scientific evidence and the recommendations of different entities on the supplementation of iron, folic acid, calcium, vitamin D and multiple micronutrient supplementation during pregnancy.

Medicine is characterized by the application of the scientific method through clinical judgment, by correct interpretation and use of the clinical course and/or natural history of the disease; its best description is observed in the architecture of clinical research. Through a temporal sequence, this model explains the phenomenon of causality with three sections: baseline status, maneuver, and outcome. The baseline status assesses who the patient is, where does he come from, his general conditions, the diagnosis, stage and aggressiveness of the pathology, complications, previous therapies, socioeconomic-cultural level, habits, therapeutic indications or contraindications, and the expected evolution is anticipated. ⋯ In the outcome, early and late evolution are monitored. The model also allows the causes of follow-up loss to be determined. Anticipating patient evolution by recognizing his condition, disease, and expected effect of medical decisions allows acting in advance, since waiting for the manifestations of the evolutionary process of disease results in detriment to the patient.

In 2017, INEGI reported 84,142 deaths from malignant tumors in Mexico, while the World Health Organization indicated that the breast cancer mortality rate in 2018 was 11.2 per 100,000 women. ⋯ Se observó un incremento de 1.0 % anual, aunque territorialmente diferenciado. Los resultados representan una oportunidad para mejorar los procesos de detección y diagnóstico oportunos, así como para garantizar la cobertura de los servicios.
