Complement regulatory proteins (mCRPs) CD55, CD46 and CD59 have been proposed as key elements in therapeutic resistance against cancer. mCRP-expressing tumor cells, in addition to hindering trastuzumab, pertuzumab and sacituzumab-govitecan therapeutic activity in breast cancer, can regulate biological processes that promote tumor progression. This review describes the structure of mCRPs and analyzes their expression using transcriptomic databases from breast cancer patients, in addition to collecting information on mCRPs interactions and signaling in tumor cells. Given that mCRPs are relevant targets, several strategies that have been explored for their inhibition and regulation in order to increase therapeutic efficacy and prevent cancer resistance and progression are described.

Joint ultrasound examination using the HEAD-US method in the detection of early arthropathy is poorly studied in our country. ⋯ Weight above the 50th percentile is an independent risk factor for joint bleeding complications, while age and type of haemophilia do not appear to be related. The HEAD-US method is a useful and accessible tool for early detection of arthropathy and hemarthrosis.

Multicenter Study
Approach to cardiology residents clinical aptitude evaluation. Multicenter design.
To the best of our knowledge, the research herein presented is the first multicenter study in Mexico to analyze the development of clinical aptitude in medical units that train cardiologists. ⋯ The degree of clinical aptitude development can be considered intermediate in all three academic sites, probably because the instrument explored problematized clinical situations that required for the residents to critically reflect on their clinical experience.

Vitiligo is an incurable, slowly progressive skin condition, the prevalence of which ranges from 0.4 to 2.0%. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) refers to self-perceived well-being associated with the presence of a disease and its treatment. ⋯ Poorer HRQoL is explained by severity self-perception, concern about disease progression, appearance of the skin and necessary actions to avoid sun exposure during recreation.

Due to sanitary restrictions secondary to the COVID-19 pandemic, various interactions between the pharmaceutical industry and physicians have changed. One of them has been the method for promoting medicinal products through academic meetings around diseases of financial interest. ⋯ These meetings are often biased not towards optimal care of a disease, but rather towards commercial promotion of a specific drug, which may or may not be the best option, without considering associated therapeutic alternatives. The Committee of Ethics and Transparency in the Physician-Industry Relationship, of the National Academy of Medicine, analyzes this new circumstance and proposes some considerations to the medical community.
