The Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire (ZKPQ) was developed in an attempt to define the basic factors of personality or temperament. We aimed to assess the factor structure and the psychometric properties of its Greek version and to explore its relation to psychopathological symptoms and hostility features. ⋯ Present findings support the applicability of the Greek version of ZKPQ within the Greek population. Future studies could improve its psychometric properties by finding new items, especially for the Sociability scale.

Intrathecal combination of local anaesthetics with opioids produces a synergistic effect without intensifying motor and sympathetic blockades. It also enables successful anaesthesia with use of a low dose of local anaesthetic, which also results in more stable haemodynamics. We compared the characteristics of blockade and maternal-neonatal effects of low-dose levobupivacaine and low-dose bupivacaine combined with fentanyl used in spinal anaesthesia for caesarean section. ⋯ In spinal anaesthesia for caesarean section, using low-dose levobupivacaine in combination with fentanyl elicits effective sensorial blockade and less motor blockade with similar haemodynamic and neonatal effects than usage of low-dose bupivacaine in combination with fentanyl.

The aim of the present study was to determine immediate changes of global and regional lung function after exogenous surfactant administration in mechanically ventilated infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) using electrical impedance tomography (EIT) measurements. ⋯ Surfactant administration in the recruited lung with RDS modifies regional ventilation, as assessed by EIT, contributing to a more homogeneous air distribution. Furthermore, significant changes in EIT markers reflect improvement of global lung function after surfactant administration.

To identify the degree of perceived social support by mothers of infants hospitalized in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and to investigate effects depression and anxiety levels on the perceived social support. ⋯ The mothers of infants hospitalized in the NICU with higher education levels had higher depression level and perceived social support from friends. Informing the family members and providing psychological support independent from the duration of gestation are of paramount importance.
