Background: It has been shown that the prognosis of malignant tumors was closely related to the composition and function of immune system, which was associated with genomic features. However, the prognostic value of peripheral T lymphocyte subsets and its relationship with genomic features in lung cancer has not been analyzed extensively. Therefore, this study was intended to evaluate the relationship between lymphocyte subsets and the prognosis and genomic features of lung cancer. ⋯ There was a negative correlation between CD3+ and CD4+ cells and OS in smoking stage Ⅱ female lung cancer patients (PCC = 0.626, P<0.05; PCC = 0.534, P<0.05, respectively). In stage Ⅰ male lung cancer patients, CD8+T cell is negatively correlated with OS and PFS (PCC = 0.295, P<0.05; PCC = 0.280, P<0.05, respectively) Conclusions: Lung cancer patients with EGFR mutation had lower percentage of CD8+ lymphocytes. Lymphocyte subsets might be potential prognostic biomarkers of lung cancer, but they are affected by gender and tumor stage.

Background: The world's first Diabetes Medications (Insulin) was marketed in October 1923. Some studies suggested the association of diabetes medications with Bullous Pemphigoid (BP), especially the Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. The study aims to detect an association between diabetes medications (focusing on DPP-4 inhibitors) and bullous pemphigoid based on FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). ⋯ Conclusions: This study detected a strong signal between BP and DDP-4 inhibitors, alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, meglitinides, non-sulfonylureas, and sulfonylureas in FAERS. The signal was significantly higher with alogliptin than with the other DPP-4 inhibitors. The study doesn't suggest the association between the incretin mimetics, insulin, SGLT-2 inhibitors, thiazolidinediones and BP in FAERS.

Background: Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs) are lysosomal storage disorders wherein glycosaminoglycans accumulate because the enzymes that degrade them are insufficient. The earliest symptoms, which are the main reasons for seeking consultation, are otorhinolaryngological and commonly occur in MPS I, II, IV, and VI. This retrospective study aimed to determine the occurrence of otorhinolaryngological manifestations in MPS patients in Taiwan and to analyze the prognosis of surgical intervention, including its effect on symptoms. ⋯ Moreover, 76% of the patients underwent ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgery, including adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, tympanostomy with ventilation tube insertion, tracheotomy, and supraglottoplasty. Conclusions: MPS patients had a high incidence of ENT problems. ENT surgery reduced the severity of hearing loss, degree of symptoms related to upper airway obstruction, and severity of respiratory tract and otological infections of patients with MPS.

Objective: Compare the oncologic outcomes of patients with advanced stage endometrial cancer who were staged by minimally invasive surgery with the outcomes of patients who underwent open surgery. Methods: Data from 138 patients with advanced stage endometrial cancer who were treated between January 2009 and January 2019 were reviewed. The patients' data were retrieved from five institutions. ⋯ In patients with advanced-stage endometrial cancer, the recurrence rate was significantly higher among those who underwent open surgery (43.1% vs. 25.8%, p = 0.033). Patients with advanced-stage endometrial cancer who underwent open surgery had a significantly lower disease-free survival (p = 0.029) than those who underwent minimally invasive surgery, however, the overall survival (p = 0.051) was similar between the two groups. Conclusion: Minimally invasive surgery showed better survival outcomes when compared to open surgery in advanced-stage EC patients irrespective of the histologic type.

Over-expression of RALYL suppresses the progression of ovarian clear cell carcinoma through inhibiting MAPK and CDH1 signaling pathways.
Background: The molecular mechanism in the progression of ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) remains unclear. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the potential function of RAYLY in OCCC. Methods: To validate RAYLY expression, immunohistochemistry, quantitative real-time PCR and western blotting were performed in OCCC tissues and the cell lines of OCCC and epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC). ⋯ In vitro, over-expression of RALYL inhibited cell proliferation, migration and invasion in OCCC. GSEA analysis and western blot indicated an enrichment of MAPK and CDH1 signaling pathways in OCCC cells without RALYL over-expression. Conclusions: RALYL played an important role in the progression of OCCC, and might serve as a potential prognostic biomarker and novel therapeutic target for OCCC.
