Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) is strongly associated with the cell adhesion signaling pathway in cell differentiation, migration, etc. Mechanistically, TGF-β is secreted in an inactive form and localizes to the extracellular matrix (ECM) via the latent TGF-β binding protein (LTBP). However, it is the release of mature TGF-β that is essential for the activation of the TGF-β signaling pathway. ⋯ In addition, TGF-β regulates cell adhesion ability through modulating CAMs expression. The aberrant activation of the TGF-β signaling pathway, caused by abnormal expression of key regulatory molecules (such as Smad proteins, certain transcription factors, and non-coding RNAs), promotes tumor invasive and metastasis ability via epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) during the late stages of tumorigenesis. In this paper, we summarize the crosstalk between TGF-β and cell adhesion signaling pathway in cancer and its underlying molecular mechanisms.

Uterine leiomyomas (ULM) are the most common benign tumors of the female genitalia, while uterine leiomyosarcomas (ULMS) are rare. The sarcoma is diffuse growth, prone to hematogenous metastasis, and has a poor prognosis. ⋯ This review searched and studied the published articles on ULM and ULMS, and summarized the potential markers for the differential diagnosis of ULMS. These markers will facilitate differential diagnosis and personalized treatment, providing timely diagnosis and potentially better prognosis for patients.

The pursuit of extreme longevity is a popular topic. Advanced technologies such as metabolomics and proteomics have played a crucial role in unraveling complex molecular interactions and identifying novel longevity-related biomarkers in long-lived individuals. This review summarizes key longevity-related biomarkers identified through metabolomics, including high levels of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and sphingolipids, as well as low levels of tryptophan. ⋯ We discuss the molecular mechanisms that could support the above biomarkers' potential for healthy longevity, including metabolic regulation, immune homeostasis maintenance, and resistance to cellular oxidative stress. Moreover, multi-omics studies of various long-lived cohorts are encompassed, focusing on how the integration of various omics technologies has contributed to the understanding of longevity. This comprehensive review aims to provide new biological insights and pave the way for promoting health span.

Diabetes mellitus is the main cause of end-stage renal disease (ESKD), and most patients need hemodialysis (HD) treatment after they progress to uremia. Patients with diabetes and HD have obvious blood glucose fluctuation, hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia may both related to the higher mortality. ⋯ The traditional blood glucose detection methods have certain limitations, they may be affected by many factors in HD patients. The application of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system is gradually recognized, CGM can monitor blood glucose real-time, timely, and predictive capabilities, there are fewer factors that are affected blood glucose in HD patients.

Evolution and advances in endovascular mechanical thrombectomy of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis.
Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is a rare type of stroke and standard treatment involves anticoagulation. However, for some special CVST patients who are ineligible for anticoagulation or refractory to conservative treatment, endovascular treatment (EVT) may be an effective option. Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is a commonly used treatment. ⋯ In addition, devices specifically designed for cerebral venous sinus and effective endovascular therapies are currently not well-established. This article summarizes different endovascular instruments and multimodal therapies for cerebral venous thrombosis. We also discuss the limitations, prospects, prognostic factors, and applications in special cases of interventional thrombectomy.
