Background: Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) presents as persistent regional pain, both spontaneous and triggered. The demand persists for innovative treatments that patients can endure with minimal adverse effects. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) emerges as a possible intervention in this regard. ⋯ Conclusions: The majority of patients improved pain and functional state of the affected limb. Our data also suggests the sooner after diagnosis of CRPS is HBOT started, the treatment has larger clinical effect. There was no serious HBOT-related complication or injury.

Background: To evaluate the predictive effect of transvaginal ultrasound measurement of cervical length and cervical elasticity examination on cervical insufficiency in twin pregnancies. Methods: Data from twin pregnant women in our hospital were collected retrospectively, including relevant vaginal ultrasound parameters (e.g., cervical length, cervical elasticity score, and the strain value of each part of the cervix). We assessed the risk factors using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis to evaluate the predictive effect of each factor on the occurrence of cervical insufficiency. ⋯ The area under the curve of cervical insufficiency predicted by the cervical elasticity score at 12-14 weeks of pregnancy was greater than that predicted by the cervical length at the same time, and the area under the curve of cervical insufficiency predicted by the elasticity score and pre-pregnancy body mass index during the same period was the largest. Conclusions: The cervical elasticity score at 12-14 weeks of gestation effectively predicted the occurrence of cervical insufficiency. The combination of the cervical elasticity score and pre-pregnancy body mass index predicted cervical insufficiency in women with twin pregnancies.

Background: Obstructive nephropathy (ON), resulting from hindered urine flow, significantly contributes to both acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Research has consistently highlighted increased lymphatic vessels (LVs) density in diverse kidney diseases. However, the precise involvement of LVs in ON remains unclear. ⋯ Additionally, several risk factors contributing to the deterioration of renal function in ON patients have been identified, including age, ureteral calculi (UC), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and uric acid (UA). Furthermore, by leveraging LVs density, multiple robust models have been established to predict severe renal impairment in ON. Conclusions: Lymphatic vessels density is significantly elevated in ON, serving as an independent risk factor for the decline in renal function.

Purpose: To evaluate the potential risk factors for poor dry eye disease (DED) outcomes after intense pulse light (IPL) treatment. Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted, and patients who received IPL were enrolled. A total of 63 eyes were included in the present study after exclusion and were divided into a fair outcome group and a poor outcome group according to posttreatment improvements in DED-related signs and symptoms. ⋯ Female sex and previous refractive surgery were associated with less improvement in DED-related symptoms (all P < 0.05), whereas advanced age, a lower pretreatment NITBUT and a higher meibomian gland loss rate were related to poor DED sign improvement (all P < 0.05). Conclusion: The major limitations are the retrospective design, small study population, and absence of detailed posttreatment exams. In conclusion, old age, female sex, previous refractive surgery, a lower NITBUT, and a higher meibomian gland loss rate are associated with worse outcomes after IPL treatment.

The Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor is an anti-glycemic agent that frequently used in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with antioxidant effects. Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common gynecological malignancy that correlates with oxidative stress. The aim in the present study is to survey the potential association between the SGLT2 inhibitor administration and the incidence of EC by the application of the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) of Taiwan. ⋯ In the subgroup analysis, the correlation between SGLT2 inhibitor administration and lower rate of EC existed in the T2DM individuals with aged under 60. Moreover, the association between SGLT2 inhibitor administration and lower EC incidence only presented in the T2DM population with SGLT2 inhibitor administration under one year (aHR: 0.58, 95% CI: 0.45-0.73). In conclusion, the administration of SGLT2 inhibitors correlates to lower incidence of EC in T2DM population.
