Rapid on-site cytologic evaluation (ROSE) has been shown to improve the diagnostic accuracy of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial biopsy (EBUS-TBB). However, ROSE by a cytopathologist or cytotechnologist is not always available during the procedure. The purposes of this study were to verify that a pulmonologist, after receiving training in cytology, could accurately assess an EBUS-TBB specimen on-site, and to evaluate the contribution of ROSE to EBUS-TBB. ⋯ A trained pulmonologist can interpret adequately cytologic smears on-site and effectively improve the accuracy of EBUS-TBB in the diagnosis of PPLs.

To describe the epidemiology and outcome of the first 100 COVID-19 cases in Taiwan. ⋯ The first 100 cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan showed the persistent threat of imported cases from different countries. Even though sporadic locally-acquired disease has been identified, through contact investigation, isolation, quarantine and implementation of social distancing measures, the epidemic is contained to a manageable level with minimal local transmission.

Clinical features and multidisciplinary treatment outcome of COVID-19 pneumonia: A report of three cases.
The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused a pandemic threatening global public health. In the current paper, we describe our successful treatment of three COVID-19 pneumonia patients cases including severe cases and cases with mortality risk factors. One 32-year-old male COVID-19 patient was diagnosed with severe COVID-19 pneumonia and moderate ARDS. ⋯ The third case of COVID-19 pneumonia was an 82-year old female patient. All three cases had severe COVID pneumonia and therefore were aggressively managed with a multidisciplinary and personalized therapeutic approach that included nutritional support, antiviral pharmacotherapy, active control of comorbidities, prevention of complication development and psychological intervention. Our experience highlights the importance of the use of a multidisciplinary therapeutic approach that tailors to the specific condition of the patient in achieving a favorable clinical outcome.

Improvement of the medical and social environment is an important aspect of government policies in assuring the quality of life (QoL) of older adults. However, few studies have appraised the impact and relationship of QoL with clinical factors among elderly individuals in affluent residential areas. ⋯ Among older adults in an affluent community, periodontal disease is an independent risk factor directly related to oral health-related QoL, whereas chewing ability is a mediator between QoL and removable denture-wearing.

To investigate whether switching GnRH antagonist (GnRHant) to medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) sequentially in the middle of controlled ovarian stimulation could effectively prevent premature LH surge in a GnRHant protocol in patients turn out to be at a high risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) during ovarian stimulation. ⋯ This study showed that MPA could sequentially replace GnRHant and effectively prevent premature LH surge after several days of GnRHant administration in patients being at high risk of OHSS during controlled ovarian stimulation. Switch protocol could individualize freeze-all policy and reduce the injection burden of GnRHant.
