The prevalence rate of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in the community Down syndrome (DS) children is not clear. Moreover, the impact of OSA and sleep structure on the cognitive function is inconclusive. The present study aimed to investigate 1) the prevalence rate of OSA in the community DS children and 2) the impact of OSA and sleep structure on cognitive performance. ⋯ This study identified that OSA may be highly prevalent in community DS children. Among 6-12-year-old DS children, OSA and % REM were associated with their language function.

This study assessed the quality of life (QoL) and pregnancy outcomes among infertile women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment to investigate the association between QoL and IVF pregnancy outcomes. ⋯ This study evaluated the prospective association between QoL and IVF pregnancy outcomes among infertile women. The results highlight the importance of developing clinical strategies to improve QoL among infertile women undergoing IVF treatment, which may further improve the pregnancy rates of this population.

The incidence of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and the mortality rate of H1N1 influenza pneumonia are unclear. The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical features and outcomes of adult patients admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) with H1N1 pneumonia related ARDS. ⋯ For H1N1 influenza pneumonia patients admitted to ICUs with mechanical ventilation, there is a high probability of developing ARDS with a modest mortality rate. For patients with ARDS due to H1N1 influenza pneumonia, the tidal volume and SOFA score are the predictors of hospital mortality.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation may occur in >10% of patients with lymphoma and resolved HBV infection who undergo rituximab-containing chemotherapy. Preventive strategies may have marked impact on resource allocation in HBV endemic areas. This study aims to compare the cost-effectiveness between prophylactic antiviral therapy and HBV DNA monitoring for the prevention of HBV-related complications. ⋯ Identification of anti-HBs-negative subgroups is critical to improve the cost-effectiveness of prophylactic antiviral therapy in lymphoma patients with resolved HBV infection.

Heavily pretreated pancreatic cancer patients have a grave prognosis. In this case series study, we evaluated the safety and efficacy of nab-paclitaxel-based chemotherapy for such patients. ⋯ In heavily pretreated pancreatic adenocarcinoma patients, low-dose nab-paclitaxel-based chemotherapy was fairly tolerable with modest efficacy.
