The association of hypokalemia with meropenem administration: A case report and literature review.
We report the case of a 72-year-old woman who was admitted following a fall and sustained a right neck of femur fracture. Prior to this admission, she was undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer. Upon this admission, it was noted that she had developed neutropenic sepsis. ⋯ The hypokalemia resolved, and potassium levels returned to normal a few days after completing the course of meropenem therapy. To our knowledge, there is a very rare association between hypokalemia and the administration of meropenem. Therefore, clinicians need to be aware of this, especially in cases of refractory hypokalemia.

Few studies explore the patient heterogeneity, trajectory development, and factors influencing the functional recovery of the postacute care cerebrovascular disease (PAC-CVD) program. The objective of the study was to analyze the group-based trajectory and different functional improvement for patients with acute stroke participating in the PAC-CVD program. ⋯ Identifying initial functional groups can guide medical professionals to target patients for PAC service use. PAC-CVD high-intensity rehabilitation significantly enhances acute stroke patients' functional recovery, though effectiveness varies over time. These factors highlight the need for further development of rehabilitation programs to boost patient independence.

Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) can impact both the quality of life and the survival of patients. The study aimed to determine the survival rate and associated variables in patients with PBC. ⋯ The study found that aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase levels, baseline and final bilirubin, albumin, antinuclear antibody, the presence of cirrhosis, and jaundice significantly influenced patient survival with PBC.
