Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a common pediatric orthopedic condition. Closed reduction (CR) is the conservative treatment approach with high success rates for DDH. However, avascular necrosis (AVN) is a severe potential complication after this procedure. This study retrospectively assessed the potential risk factors for AVN occurrence after CR and Spica cast immobilization. ⋯ IV, retrospective, observational, cross-sectional study.

Asparaginase-based treatment regimen for acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is considered as feasible, but there is still a lack of data. In this study, considering the results of other regimen that were not optimum in previous studies. Here, we aimed to investigate the feasibility of PETHEMA ALL-96 treatment regimen. ⋯ The PETHEMA ALL-96 had high feasibility and survival rates with no side effects during the study course. It is believed that PETHEMA ALL-96 regimen has beneficial outcomes in young patients with ALL.

To compare perioperative adverse events between general anesthesia with endotracheal tube (ETT) and general anesthesia with laryngeal mask airway (LMA) in patients undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy. ⋯ The ETT group had more incidences of vomiting, sore throat, and cough complications and needed more drug treatment than the LMA group. LMA is a better airway management mode and LMA general anesthesia can be safely used in patients undergoing laparoscopic nonemergency hysterectomy.

With increasing age and joint-destructive diseases, the need for novel surgeries such as total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has increased. Complications such as pain exacerbation and persistent pain after surgery may occur which increases rehabilitation programs. Factors such as body mass index (BMI), psychiatric disorders, spine diseases, and comorbidities diseases can affect outcomes. Our study was conducted to evaluate the effect of BMI, psychiatric disorders, spine diseases, and underlying diseases on persistent and annoying pain after TKA. ⋯ Underlying diseases, psychiatric diseases, and spine disorders did not significantly affect the pain after TKA. Patients with DM and higher BMI experienced more persistent pain after TKA.

Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEinhs) may deteriorate or improve the clinical manifestations in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection. A comparative, cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the association of ARBs/ACEinhs and hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-CoA reductase inhibitors (HMGRis) with clinical outcomes in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). ⋯ Our findings present clinical data on the association between ARBs, ACEinhs, and HMGRis and outcomes in hospitalized, hypertensive COVID-19 patients, implying that ARBs/ACEinhs are not associated with the severity or mortality of COVID-19 in such patients.
