Examining and exploring the intuitive knowledge--ergo intuition--of nurses is a critical undertaking for the practice of nursing. Traditionally, as nurses, we have been conditioned to value empirical knowledge above all other forms of knowledge. ⋯ The focus of this paper is to explore intuitive knowledge within the context of nursing practice. It will also address various influences on our understanding of intuition as an essential form of nursing knowledge.

The over 45 million Americans who are uninsured speak volumes about the problems with our present healthcare system. Many Americans do not have access to basic health care and it is time to revisit the importance of universal health care for all Americans. ⋯ The implementation of universal health care in America is a plausible feat, but the support of several facets of society is necessary for this to become a reality.

The concept of the grieving process has been explored extensively in families losing a loved one or in a patient grieving over a terminal diagnosis. The patients and families live through this experience one time. ⋯ This is a concept analysis that clarifies the grieving process for nurses. Clarifying this process will enable further development of nursing research and education, ultimately benefiting nursing practice and retention.
